From the minarets like kalashnikova and the turrets like scuds to the Koran locked away in its depths written in Saddam Hussein's blood, this mosque exudes messages and mysteries. Easy to see from the overpass above, it is more difficult to access below owing to the enormous concrete blast wall that surrounds it on three sides - erected to protect the mosque from sectarian attacks, such as it suffered during the worst of the internal violence following regime change in 2003. It's former name was Umm Al-Maarik - Mother of all Battles mosque. A great deal of thought and symbolism is attached to its landscaping features and map marked out in water. Deserving of attention, its dark blue domes are a pleasing variant on more stereotypical domes.

I traveled here with a few of my good best friend in the summertime of last year. Nothing to dislike about this.

This Mosque was built at the time of the Iraqi ex-regime and at that time it was considered to be one of the largest mosque not only in Iraq but in all nearby countries. It did cost a lot of money at that time and the main aim of building it was to be just a mosque (a spiritual place for Muslims to do them prays). Now it serve many other purpose in addition to what mentioned above since it become the headquarter of a couple of state religese departments
