Museum gives an insight into the ancient world
Jordan is the crossroads of civilization. The Jordan Museum displays many artifacts that go back thousands of years. However, Jordan was the center of revolutions, with industrial and agricultural innovations that changed the world. The Jordan Museum is an insight into the ancient Middle East

A good museum but not as comprehensive as expected
A nicely laid out museum, with some good exhibits (such as some of the earliest human statues ever discovered). One floor is currently occupied by a very interesting exhibition on ancient scientific discoveries in the Arab world. The museum though is not as large as you might expect and one wonders where a lot of finds from places such as Jerash & Petra might actually be housed. Entry is not covered by the Jordan Pass. The entrance is on the opposite side to the bus station (not as indicated by Google walking directions).

    Excellent museum
The Jordan museum tells the story of Jordan throughout the ages. It took me a full two hours to see all of the exhibits in this modern museum, opened in 2006. Some of the exhibits date back thousands of years, such as the prehistoric stone tools. There is a two-headed statue that is over 9500 years old and is one of the oldest human statues in the world. At one exhibit, you could see your name in Jordan's different alphabets. In another rooms, there is an exhibit of the Dead Sea scrolls. On the upper floor was an exhibit I has seen in London in 2010. The "1001 Inventions: Discovering Our Past . . Inspiring Our Future" exhibit featured Arab discoveries and scientific advancements during the so-called "Dark Ages".

    A Surpise in the City
The Museum is a gem with some really interesting exhibitions which provide a lot of information on the history, archeology, and general interest topics on Jordan. You will not be disappointed in any way, parking is easy, the staff are welcoming and friendly. There is plenty to excite the your interest no matter your age.

A tour from the old period to new Jordan. A visit to The Jordan Museum was so fruitful. Exploring the map, population, energy power, how to prepare Mansaf, old stones from thousands of years, traditional dresses, weapons, utensils, old languages and many others. Visit 1001 Inventions Exhibition, and meet old Muslim and Arab scientists, fly with Ibn Fernas, indulge in some interesting history games, take a photo with old dress with Al Jahez. Such a great visit. Entry ticket is very reasonable.

    10/10 would go again!
This museum, is amazing. One of the best history museums I've seen in my life. And I'm Italian, I've seen a lot of rocks in buildings. This is a very well thought of series of exhibits with great explanations, there is plenty to get even the least interested visitor engaged on the ground floor, at the main exhibition. The second floor blew my mind. It's planned with kids in mind, it shows the inventions of the Arabic world and showcases both female and male inventors. It's very interactive, great fun also as an adult. 10/10 would go again!

    A 'must visit' museum
Very nice museum exploring the history of Jordan. Lots of interesting pieces to see with plenty of information (in English), and a dedicated Dead Sea Scrolls room. A definite 'must visit' when in Amman.

We ended up in the museum because our dead sea plan didn't work out because of bad weather. It turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. The museum captures different eras very well and would be a treasure trove for history buffs. Even a person like me who doesn't find museum format of learning history very engaging will find something for him there.

It's not included in the Jordan pass but it's worth spending the 5 JD entrance to see this!

This is an excellent museum. The layout is very well designed. It takes visitors through a journey of Jordan's history. The description are very clear and we'll written. The second floor is great for visitors with kids. This museum is not included in the Jordan pass but it's worth the entrance ticket. So, dont miss this museum when visiting Amman!!! A side story.... it was raining on the day we visited. Originally, we wanted to take a taxi to the museum. Interestingly, we tried two taxis both drivers didn't know of this place. We ended up walking to the museum from downtown. It was like a 15 mins walk

It’s very rich in term of the items, objects that are there. It provides lots of details for all the eras that are being covered, and also has some interactive displays.
It’s worth seeing, you won’t be disappointed.
Just an FYI, it’s not included in the Jordan pass if you have one. Entrance fee is 5JD.

Excellent museum covering the history of the region, from pre-Homo Sapiens until modern times. Focus is on archeology, natural science, language and culture. You can even see a few Dead Sea scrolls, which is amazing (these are the only things you're not allowed to photograph though). Also the famous 2-headed sculptures are on display here.
Very good first stop before travelling throught the country.

Jordan is at the crossroads of empires. Many civilizing innovations began here, from metal smelting to agriculture. The Museum does not neglect religion and culture. Although the museum is on the small side, any visitor can easily spend an hour here, especially if they have an interest in archaeology. By the way, the Museum is shut on Tuesday. Captions are in Arabic and English.

Very well-worth a trip. AC, impeccably clean, with placards in English and Arabic. The museum gives a great overview of Transjordan and I found it very helpful before going to Petra. Not many people at all. Some interactive displays. Photos allowed except in the Dead Sea Scrolls area (though I sneaked a few).

I planned my trip to Jordan a year before actually getting there due to COVID. Every time I check the Jordan Museum internet site the days/times were changed. This was my #1 priority to see while in Amman and we did this the last day of our visit so I thought I would be able to see antiquities from all the other sites we had already visited (e.g. Petra, Jerash, Madaba, etc) and this was not the case. The museum was more focused on the environment, culture and projects ongoing in Jordan. The few antiquities present were nice, but (and it's unfortunate to say this based on how the other museum "acquired" its pieces) not as impressive as the British Museum.

Probably one of the worst museums I have ever seen. Just an exibiition for children. Not for adults searching archeological founds from Amman, Petra or other places in Jordan, just 5 or 6 pieces. Costs 5 JD and it's NOT included in Jordan Pass. And be careful if you pay by card, you are charged 2% more for using this method (but the men in the ticket office won't say anything!)
Don't waste your time and money coming here!

The Jordanian Museum is located in the heart of the city, along a main road, accessible by car or bus. Free parking is available on site.

Admission costs 5 JD per person for foreign visitors. The welcome is smiling and friendly, full of respect. The museum is composed of two levels. On the ground floor there is a historical, archaeological, cultural part, on the whole history of Jordan. Some treasures are highlighted in a separate part. Don’t miss the section devoted to Dead Sea scrolls. Everything is well highlighted in this modern museum.

Upstairs, a very playful and interesting part concerning the inventions of the Arab world that one would not suspect to be at the origin of so many scientific advances. A game that will delight the youngest because everything is tactile and we can quickly take to the game.

Allow 2 hours visit at least if you want to see everything. We were able to visit the museum quietly because there were hardly any tourists
