The Great Synagogue seems underutilised and somewhat negelected despite being located in the centre of Tel Aviv. From the outside, the architecture is unusual and there is beauty in its ugliness, even if the building could do with a lick of paint and some tender...More

Readers photos reveal the true situation of the Great Synagogue - it's in terrible need of a good scrubbing and painting. Albeit it's situated on the very polluted Allenby Street, certainly the city or a caring philanthropist can allow the funds restore it and to...More

The outside of the Great Synagogue looks like something nightmare vision of an architect obsessed with Brutalist architecture. There's no getting away with it, the facade of this building is ugly. The interior is sadly empty and has been since the 1970s when the area...More

We were slightly disappointed with the design and look of it. It really looks and feel abandoned. Just not worth it

So this is a big squarish building that looks very solid from the outside. Inside it reminded me of a place to worship - They have stained glass windows and places to sit. It's a very calming atmosphere.

For those looking for Jewish historical roots in the city, the Great Synagogue is a must. It still functions for the small, residual observant congregation that still lives in the city limits, but also has the feel of a museum. There is a person at...More

Sorry state of affairs to find the Great Synagogue in the heart of Tel Aviv in such neglect. It should shine, but instead looks like an impenetrable dirty fortress. Could be something, and clearly once was. Wish it could be restored.

Not one of the best attraction in Tel Aviv, but proximity of the the most important boulevard should have been attracted tourists in the area.

You cannot miss it on Allenby, being a former white, now quite dirty walled block. As a key religious monument, I find it interesting, but not from a sightseeing perspective. It is empty, as synagogues are and needs cleaning on the outside. Good place to...More

The Great Synagogue of Tel Aviv is immense. Perhaps one of the greatest of Israel. The architecture is a mix of modern, Bauhaus and Art Deco. Exterior view, it seems simple and austere, once inside you will have a feeling appeasement. I suggest you come...More
