Most memorable and personalised museum experience
Fascinating and extraordinary story of an amazing man, Joseph Bau, as told by his daughter. Bau was not just an artist but also a Holocaust survivor, graphic designer, author, lover, humorist and Mossad agent. The experience is even more real because it occurs in the gallery and studio where Bau worked his entire life in Israel.

The interesting Joseph Bau House in Tel Aviv
This tiny museum is located in the middle of Tel Aviv and is dedicated to one man - Yoseph Bau. In spite of its small dimensions one can stay there for a very interesting hour, listening to his 2 daughters telling his unique life history and showing his artifacts: spatial machinery, paintings, special Hebrew fonts and more. He was a student in the art academy of Krakow, Poland, then a prisoner in Plashov concentration camp during WW2 and then a worker in Schindler plant, who actually saved his life while Bau saved the lives of hundreds, to whom he prepared fake IDs. (His work and marriage is played by an actor in Schindler List film by Spielberg). A few years later he immigrated to Israel where he was a graphic expert, was the first to prepare an animated movie in this land and also worked secretly for the Mossad.

    Wonderful experience
I am not big into art so was not originally excited for this museum. It was so much better then imagined and the Joseph Bau (and his wife Rebecca) were such special people. Their stories are beautiful and definitely a must see in Israel!

    Amazing Museum!
Joseph Bau and his wife Rebecca were a truly remarkable, and until recently, and under recognized couple. This museum vividly captures their life, from the Holocaust (their characters were depicted in Schindler's List) and heroic rescue of fellow Jews in the Shoah, to their emigration to Israel at its inception. Joseph Bau's contributions to the State of Israel, in so many different fields, cannot be overstated, but because he was a Mossad agent (involved in the Eichmann abduction!) had to fly under the radar. His story, through film, and so touchingly told by his daughter, is an experience I will never forget.

    A MUST SEE!!
A must see! So much history in a small, intimate space. The stories this place holds are incredible and they must be preserved! The sisters are extremely welcoming and great storytellers, it’s amazing to hear their family’s story directly from them. This will be a stop I make every time I’m in Tel Aviv!

Amazing visit to Joseph Bau House Museum
On my recent tour to Israel (May 2024), I had the amazing privilege to visit the Joseph Bau House Museum. I was familiar with the story of Joseph and Rebecca Bau through the ministry of WPN from California and was thrilled to actually be able to meet Clila and Hadasa in person and hear from them as they shared about the life of their father and mother. To be able to gather with the tour group I was with, in this intimate museum setting and see the actual setting where Joseph Bau worked and created his graphics and movies, enriched my experience of my first trip to Israel! Clila and Hadasa were so generous with their time with all of us in the group, it was hard for us to end our time there with them! I especially love the piece of art of one of Joseph Bau's graphics, "The Shield of David," that I purchased to bring home as a sweet lasting memory of this lovely time capsule of a museum nestled in an ordinary yet not so ordinary part of Tel Aviv! Blessings to you Clila and Hadasa!!

    a make sure visit
Fascinating and enriching experience about Joseph Bau's lifelong journey. A rare experience not to be missed. Ester and myself were riveted to our chairs for 2 hours without noticing the time going by. Clila, Bau's daughter take you on the journey with the passion that only a daughter can convey. Highly reccomended and under-rated.

It’s a small museum, but its impact is profound.
The Joseph Bau House Museum in Tel Aviv is a captivating and intimate tribute to the life and work of Joseph Bau, a Holocaust survivor, artist, and animator. Located in Bau's original studio, the museum offers a deeply personal glimpse into his story, blending humor, resilience, and creativity. Guided tours, often led by his daughters, add a special touch with heartfelt stories and insights into Bau's unique contributions to art and animation. A must-visit for those interested in history, art, and inspiring tales of survival.

Located in a small apartment in the center of Tel Aviv, with plenty of parking nearby, is this hidden gem. What really makes the place come alive are the two daughters of Joseph Bau who are energetic, inspiring and captivating. The story of Joseph Bau helps one understand Israel's modern history in the 20th century: from Holocaust to Indepence.
45-60 minutes spent in the place are well worth you time and money.

Visiting this small museum, is a very special and unusual experience, in the good sense. It is a place in memory of Josef Bau and his unbelievable story of survival from the holocaust, and his aliya to Israel, in which he used his graphical talent to help the young state of Israel in some unknown missions that might never be revealed. We heard the story from his daughter Tslila, in English, and we enjoyed it much.

The museum is full of history told by the Joseph’s daughter. Some stories are such breathtaking so I had goosebumps.
I strongly recommend everyone to visit this museum and be aware of what holocaust looked like from perspective of the survivor.
I was amazed by the story of REAL LOVE between Joseph and his wife Rebecca.

This museum didn’t only made me realize a lot about history events, but also rised my standards according to Men😂😏

What a magical experience filled with tragedy, love and humor. His daughter took us through Joseph’s harrowing story, illustrating his commitment to the Jewish people, his family and his art. What a talented and amazing man. We are so fortunate that his daughters have carried on his legacy. This was one of my favorite experiences of my trip to Israel.

The place is very cool, with tons of creative and meaningful art. The owners of the museum are very kind and the stories told are both shocking and unbelievable. They also have air conditioning.

Great place for creative people and graphic designers.

100% recommend.

The visit to Joseph Bau House has been a very moving and unique experience. We had never heard about him and his wife and were surprised to hear how being themselves inmates of a polish Ghetto and concentration camps, they managed to help other people. in the same situation, keeping their faith and confidence. Their creativity, resilience, humor, love for each other are an example. Joseph Bau continued serving the State of Israel after the war working for the Mossad as a forger of documents. This small museum conserves the soul of these people. We were very thankful to be able to hear live history from the daughters of this wonderful couple. We cannot understand how this museum can be in danger of disappearing because of shortage of money to keep it running. We can only hope that either the State of Israel. or some powerful sponsor will appear and save this museum from disappearing into oblivion. It is a threat to "live History!

One of my highlights in Tel Aviv. Very moving tour by Joseph Bau's two daughters through the very small museum that gives personal insights in history through telling the story of his life. Definitely recommend! Make sure you check beforehand to get a tour to fully understand his art and the wordplays.
