Interesting early machine guns, richly ornamented revolvers, fine edged weapons. Not very much details about famous battles. The Concert at 1500 hrs is alone worth a visit. Really blood chilling battle tunes.

The museum is great if you want to see a lot of swords, helmets and guns. There no real story behind most of the artifacts

Turkey has such an incredible military history, where to begin? Just consider one city alone: today's Istanbul was Constantinople and became the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire in the 4th century. Accordingly you'll find swords and battle-axes galore ... in fact a very rich...More

Great military history of Turkey. From early tribal/villager days to the great Ottoman empire. Bonus was the marching band in the afternoon.

Good place to visit if you have time but I wouldn’t say it is a must do while in Istanbul unless your into guns and stuff. It is well laid out and information is in English, well, most of it. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Hi Virginia, There is a cafeteria situated at the ground floor of the museum. Nevertheless, the museum is so near Nisantasi district that you may find many restaurants & coffee shops.
