This was never intended to be my local in Istanbul but it has become. As Irish theme pubs abroad go, it looks right and has a friendly Turkish staff, excellently organised by the ever present Ersin who has been there for many years. A good...More

Staff are great and friendly. Tried to food 3 times all bad. Chilli chips on meat. The beef pie the gravy was like water. The chef should be fired. Has not a clue. People beside us thought it was dreadful too. Otherwise nice bar and...More

In fairness we only ordered nachos, which were the absolute worst I’ve eaten to date and I’ve had a lot of nachos in many countries. Stick to the beer

The James Joyce is a great home from home for Westerners. An easy to understand menu and favourite beers, great music and English spoken by everyone. We enjoyed our night cap after a evening wondering along Istiklal.

Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal
Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night
and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights,
shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of
people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive
Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of
the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned
restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening
