You will find this near the Old Lighthouse and it was built in 1956, but is one of the most amazing sights in the city. The stupa stands on two arches that are many meters above the road.

The base straddles the road and the white tower sits high above it. Look for the gate to the stairs and walk up 10 stories (shoes off) to get into the stupa, which has paintings of buddha’s life, or take in the views of the...More

Unfortunately this monument as well as the lighthouse are surrounded by construction as of July 2017. However the architecture is easy to appreciate regardless of the surroundings, and it's size is truly magnificent.

This is near the Galle Face green and the lighthouse. The stupa is built on concrete pillars jutting out to the sky. Completely different way of seeing a stupa in sri lanka. You see this as you drive by the area very prominently.
