It was a surprised visit . Our driver took us there and never expected such a beautiful architecture situated behind a small wall.

We visited this large and very colourful Buddhist Temple on a recent cruise call to Colombo. It is free to enter but visitors are asked to dress modestly and remove shoes before entering. There were several large statues of the Buddha - a very impressive...More

Unusual to say the least. There seemed to be antique shop keepers inside the temple and a monk who was openly berating a tourist who appeared quite innocent of any wrongdoing. It was interesting but if you didn't visit you are not really missing much.

A must visit during your stay in Colombo! The artistic and holistic aspects of it are so tranquil and peaceful. Do take extra socks with you as you will have to take off your shoes out of respect for the temple.

Big buddhist temple on outskirts of Colombo. Large crowds so keep moving. Very ornate decoration with large reclining budha.

We joined hundreds of locals to visit this temple. Well worth it, try to go late in afternoon when a little cooler

The whole premise is filled with a vibrance, peculiar to religious places and has a spiritual environment.. Can't understand why they are charging too much from foreigners (only) from even India, who share many of the prayers
