Thanks to the trip that was tailored to our wishes, we saw many different sides of the Gobi Desert. The landscapes are incredible! We were often the only tourists, because with the tent we were quite independent, we stayed wherever we liked. Our driver was also a guide and spoke very good English, we cooked together. Unfortunately we had a few breakdowns with the car, but a solution was always found.
The owner of the trekking agency Batbayar is very committed and has a real interest in ensuring that his customers are satisfied. A tailor-made trip like this costs money, but it is worth it.

I can't recommend Mongolia Trekking highly enough. We have just completed a cycling tour of Bulgan, Mongolia. The team, fantastically led by Bat and Samba, worked tirelessly to make sure we had the most amazing experience. Nothing was too much trouble.

The tour was awesome. Challenging and rewarding cycling over various terrains with tough uphills, thrilling downhills and time to recharge on the flat.

The sights, sounds and smells will stay with me forever. Expansive green plains, dotted with occasional Gers, flanked by distant mountains. Thousands of sheep, goats and cattle grazing peacefully on the grassland. The thunder of hooves from hundreds of inquisitive horses that stalked us along the way, and the cries of kites soaring overhead. Then there was the faint aroma of wild thyme wafting in the air, as well as the sometimes more earthy smells left by the livestock.

Finally, the generosity and friendliness of the people as they welcomed us into their Gers.

Truly an unforgettable tour. Thank you Mongolia Trekking.

Thank you, Mongolia Trekking, for two wonderful tours in Mongolia. We were out on the bicycles for 13 days and followed that up with 5 days of hiking and other cultural experiences. The cycling was challenging “technical double-track” mountain biking with some steep climbs through mountain passes followed by long descents at high speed. Exhilarating! Great camping, great food, and great guides.

The hiking trip offered some inspiring hikes and included archery lessons, knucklebone lessons (real bones), and the opportunity to ride a yak or camel and hear traditional Mongolian music. Over all, it was a fully immersive Mongolian adventure for three weeks. Highly recommended!

Mongolia Trekking is one of the most professional and exceptional tour operators I have ever traveled with. On a 14 day trip bicycling in Bulgan provence, I was continually impressed by the quality of the tour, the guides (Bat and Samba), the chefs -- really amazing food, and the drivers. They went above and beyond to have our tour be enjoyable, fun, and safe.
Recommend them wholeheartedly.

This summer my family joined 5 other cyclists on the Bulgan cycle tour. Our guide and support team took us on routes, which made us feel at one with the country, wild horses, yaks, goats, stopping at the odd yurt to see how the families lived (and at one we were even invited inside and our tour chef was even able to cook us lunch there - it was brilliant). Mongolia trekking support was second to none, breath taking routes, cycle equipment very good, camping gear just right, drivers amazing and the catering was top notch. Definitely recommend you try – a truly great experience.

Had a week long trek with Mongolia Trekking at the Altai National park. Mr Bat is very effective in taking care of all the logistics from domestic flights to our daily meals. Had a group of 3 persons crew. Driver was superb, can fix practically anything. Cook makes Gordon Ramsay looks amateur. The guide is young but is good at interacting with people. Learnt quite a bit from the guide in terms of the history, culture and daily lives of the Kazakh in western Mongolia. Long story short, if u plan to visit Mongolia, give Mongolia Trekking a call. Reliable, responsive, accommodating and value for money.

The Altai trekking tour was one of the best hikes I’ve ever been on. With its jaw dropping scenery, friendly welcoming guides, combined with its delicious Kazakh cuisine, I struggle to think what could’ve been done better! I would definitely recommend anyone to do this who has love for hiking!

We did extremely nice Gobi tour organized by Mongolia Trekking. Despite our last minute request, Mr. Batbayar was able to organize everything just perfectly!
The driver was very professional and friendly, had more the feeling as being his guest than a customer☺️ And we had never survived some of the roads driving by our selves, not to mention the coordinating from from place to another😄
The absolute highlight of the tour was ger camp Motherland of Baatar and Khermen Tsav. These were quite remote and the road was bit bumpy, but so much worth the travel!
Highly recommend🤩

I arrived to Ulaanbaatar absolutely clueless of the country and what it has to offer.
After searching online I stumbled across Mongolia tracking. with great pleasure (and great English), Bat The company‘s owner devoted with a grand smile, a good chunk of his morning to helping me understand what it is Exactly I want to do.
Within a cup of tea and a few phone calls I was on my way to an adventure of a lifetime!

Thanks so much!

If you're thinking of taking this or a similar tour, even in the frigid winter months, read my review and book it in immediately. This was the single best experience I had in Ulaanbaatar.

Bat picked us up at our hostel on time at 8am, and drove us out though Mongolia's rugged countryside of white rolling ranges as the sun rose. We drove past villages sitting contained and street-less, just rising up in brightly coloured houses amid the snow. After about 40 minutes, we began the cross country descent to The Valley of Bogd Khan Mountain.

Initially, we hiked up to the cluster of gers nesting in the ice, their chimneys smoking, then made our way to the 6.5km track up Mt Bogd Khan (600m elevation). Bat was happy to go at my pace, which is hardly Olympic, and after stripping off several unnecessary layers--I'm from Australia, my snow hiking knowledge is about zero--we made a steady pace for the summit, passing through picturesque forests of larch and cedar, spotted with little squirrels darting between them as we climbed.

There were plenty of friendly UB locals of all ages about too, hiking the same trail in their usual street boots and coats, but don't think the trail is necessarily a breeze. I worked up a sweat by the summit, and my quads are feeling it today (I hiked this yesterday).

At the top of the mountain, you will find cairns strewn with prayer flags, bestowed with offerings of milk, vodka, sweets and so on. Moreover, you have a gobsmacking 360 degree view: to the south, the edge of the forest and the wild plains leading to the Gobi. To the north, the snowy peaks of Siberia proper. You can also see the bowl of the capital spread out below, usually covered in a halo of smog.

We explored all of this while eating our packed lunch (you'd need to have a huge stomach not to be satisfied with it) and drinking cups of hot tea. It is very cold at the top, and taking gloves off photos feels like dipping your hands into a bucket of ice, but it's worth it to take those shots. So sick it up and do it.

We leisurely descended (if you're a champion hiker though, that's the pace Bat will keep) and made our way off track to explore the remains of the Buddhist monastery, where Bogd Khan was placed under house arrest by the Chinese in 1920, until he was liberated by Russian Baron Ungern-Sternberg, thus kicking off a very interesting period of Mongolian history.

That concluded the trip. Bat dropped us back at our hostel on time, and said goodbye.

A final note about our tour guide, Bat: he is wonderful and sociable. He speaks better English than many native speakers, and he studied history at university, so make sure you mine him for information. Our heads are so full of fascinating facts and images of glittering snow in cedar forests that we can hardly contain them.

Now go book this hike, even if it is cold out.
