I first came here in 1998 and every visit I make an effort to enjoy the Sau Rieng smoothie and every time they look at me like a crazed foreigner. So they give me a small spoon of Durian ice cream and I go yum! And then explain I’ve been coming here for 20 years. That aside if you like durian you’ll love their Sau Rieng smoothie. Ice cold with just the right component of durian. Great on a sticky humid HCMC day.

The river walk is lovely, even in the rain. Great to have a stroll down from the Statue and just spend some time watching the boats go by on the river.

The green area is relatively well-kept but watch out for slippery floors when it’s raining! I nearly had an embarrassing accident involving the splits!

The hardest part of the walk is crossing, the incredibly busy made road, the main problem is the scooters/buses/trucks/cars get a sped up, once crossed it is actually quite peaceful (with the background noise of course), be sure to stop and admire the cannons/guns pointing out to the river, there is plenty of seating at the pier for a rest also many vendors selling there wares, we continued on past the maritime flag pole, finishing at Mong (pedestrian) bridge, which is definitely worth a visit (see review).

We went walking here during the night after having a meal at Ganesh Restaurant which was walking distance from here
It was quite dead by the time we had reached here and I had expected to be much more lively.. also it was very difficult to cross the road and reach here with the heavy ongoing crazy traffic

The Bach Dang location -with boats on river picture- mentioned in Trip advisor seems wrong. Bach Dang Pier - Bus stop Ton Duc Thang - opposite of Liberty Central Saigon Riverside hotel- is the actual attraction which is on the banks of River Saigon. This is where the locals/cab drivers stop. It has a park along the river bank. Can walk, sit and watch the river side for some time. May be 30 minutes will be sufficient here. There is a coffee shop and Vietnam tour guide office situated in the park.

This place is where you can rest a bit. Late afternoon visit is ideal because it gets hot easily during the day. Stay till sunset and the view is amazing.

This is quite a simple park by the harbor, where you can watch the beautiful cruise on the river. I visited this place in late afternoon, it was cool and windy, and I managed to see the sky turned dark and the city lit up. There's a big statue on the opposite road where you can take a picture.

It will give you local feel of Vietnam. Boats, local market with fresh fruit is good to see. The park in it is a nice place to relax. Not a major attraction of the city.

Park is lovely and the area is just fine to visit but only if you are staying somewhere near to it. Else there is no point to come and visit it especially.
