Chiang Mai Elephant Rescue - there’s no substitute.
From early pick up we were very well taken care of by Sean and Team Kid. A great family day out that we will never forget. The morning was spent getting to know the elephants and why the park was founded and the philosophy of caring for these true rescue animals. The onus is on the elephants wants and needs and best care and attention at all times. The lunch provided was superb Thai cuisine that everyone lapped up. The afternoon was again caring for the elephants with a short walk through the forest and down to the stream and the final “immersive” experience of bathing with elephants. All the staff are great and I would highly recommend booking your elephant park experience with Chiang Mai Elephant Rescue Park. You will not be disappointed.

This is something none of us will ever forget!

    An enlightening experience
From beginning to end, an awesome day with brilliant people who love the elephants they care for. I’d recommend this to anyone who has concerns about visiting an elephant sanctuary. The elephants all seem happy in their environment and, as “domesticated” animals, seem to enjoy the interaction. All questions are answered honestly and it’s great to get an insight into the history of elephant/ human interaction over the years and what’s led to this place to exist and how tourist $$ help. Thanks to everyone there for an awesome day.

    Incredible encounter with elephants
This was easily one of our best highlights while in Chiang Mai. When it came to picking a tour, I wanted to ensure that the company took good care and respected the elephants. This particular rescue park operated with complete authenticity by rehabilitating wounded elephants and giving them plenty of acres to roam. The elephants were treated respectfully. A photographer took amazing pictures of the day and that was absolutely no riding of the elephants. Would highly recommend, a cannot miss experience

    Memories to treasure for life
Truly a wonderful place. The elephants are so cared for and the visitor programme is really good, very well paced with opportunities to interact with the elephants as they eat, walk and bathe. The guides and photographer make it so special and go the extra mile. The elephants are a delight, not to be missed!
Nice to hear that you got such a great experience with us. We have been trying very hard to make these giants happy. All of my staff are happy to serve everyone who has the same heart (elephant’s lover). Please come and try it.

    Elephant Sanctuary
I absolutely loved this - my favourite experience in Thailand. I spent a really long time researching an ethical way to see the elephants in a safe and happy environment and Elephant Rescue Park delivered. There are 10 elephants that reside at the park, rescued from logging and and elephant riding industries. They are happy and healthy, and you sort of just tag along with a few of them for their morning routine - feeding them their banana snacks, taking a stroll with them through the parkland and then helping give them a scrub in a dam while they wash themselves. So many photo opportunities, but none of them forced. The mahouts seem to have a great relationship with the elephants and can communicate with them by talking and gentle guiding. Really magical.
Thanks for your good try to find us. We hope that this is one of the most memorable experience for you. We will try our best to rescue and help more elephants as many as we can. Hope to see you again in the future. Thanks.

    Must do Tour!
Amazing!! An AMAZING day out with Elephant Rescue Park!! We had such a great time feeding and caring for the elephants! I took so many pictures and we also paid for the photographer that was at the location.. Would 100% book this tour again.. it wasn’t only about photo opportunities with the elephants it was about caring for them. Most of them came from the circus or logging and all of them were previously mistreated before arriving at their new home. It was beautiful to see them loved and cared for. Our tour guide Dew was funny and knowledgeable about the elephants and made the day even more amazing!!
Thanks for having your positive feedback. Our team will try our best to make them happy as you. All activities with elephants created by the owner are for elephants care. Welcome everyone to try this great experience with us.

    Unforgettable experience with elephants!
This is THE place to go for elephant experiences near Chiang Mai. My parents and I very much enjoyed the half day tour. The day started with an easy pickup in a luxury van at our hotel (137 Pillars) in the morning, and after a few stops to pick up 9 other travelers we were on our way to the Rescue Park. Our tour guide, Andy, gave us a great overview of the city as we drove through it. He memorized everyone’s names on the trip and provided interesting and funny commentary on the way up. The entire experience was extremely well organized. We were handed unique outfits (which made for some great photo ops!) to change into and we’re given some background on what makes this park different from the surrounding ones. You can truly see how this park is incredibly humane and takes very good care of its 10 elephants, giving each good attention, space, and saving them from the logging and riding industries. We also got the photo package, which was well worth it. We had over 100 photos taken of us as we fed, walked with, and washed the elephants. I would recommend the half day tour, as I don’t think the full day tour provides a lot of additional experiences and we felt that a half day was plenty of time with the elephants. This will truly be an unforgettable experience for anyone visiting Chiang Mai. Everyone was so kind and personable, and we met so many other great people through this experience. Thank you for doing the great work and offering the best elephant day we could possibly have!

We did so much research before booking an elephant tour, and I’m so glad we picked this one. Our tour guide Shy was so funny and knowledgeable, with an emphasis on safety with our small children which was really appreciated. The elephants were happy and loved, and it was clear we were on their schedule, not the other way around. They set the pace. The food was delicious and the whole team worked with us so that we could do the tour and not miss our flight later that afternoon. 10/10 experience we will remember forever! Thank you!

A fantastic experience for the whole family!

The park "rescues elephants" from circuses, logging camps and elephant riding camps and gives them a new home where they are cared for by dedicated friendly staff and are happily shown to guests.

All guests are supplied with overalls and rubber boots - take off all your street clothes (apart from swimming costumes) you'll see why later!

The staff spend time explaining elephant types, their behaviour and personalities, then introduce guests to the elephants by allowing guests to feed them with bananas - an unusual experience as the elephant grips the food and your hand in their trunks. You soon become comfortable with being in close contact!

Then you walk with the elephants through their jungle reserve.

At the end it's elephant bath time and all guests are encouraged to help scrub and wash the elephants. You'll be chest deep in their bathing pool, hence the swimming costume under the overalls!! This is a fantastic experience and one that I'll remember for many years!

After a shower, the day ends with a lovely lunch in the on-site covered dining area

All in all a fantastic day out and well worth the ticket price. Don't forget you're also helping to fund the parks operating costs, it's not a money making commercial operation!

Highly recommended!!

We spent the most incredible and memorable day here, at the Elephant Rescue Park. All the staff are so kind and knowledgeable and LOVE their elephants. There are now over 100 'elephant experiences' in Chiang Mai but this park was reccomended as the most ethical by friends who previously visited and I am so pleased we took their advice. We were so blessed to have Shok as our our guide for the day, he taught us so much and looked after us really well. We did the full day and spent many hours feeding and bonding with the elephants before a lovely lunch and then walked them to the river for their bath, which was one of the many highlights. If you're visiting Chang Mai then please support this rescue park - the kindness they show to these rescued elephants is heartwarming. Thank you for the best day ever xx

Thank you for sharing experience. Of course there are many elephant options in Chiangmai after the pandemic. Some make it confusing to visitors who don’t know and understand the situation by using our reputation (name) for advertising online. Elephant Rescue Park is the only one (established since 2015) in Thailand at the moment. If you would like to have such a great experience, please contact us on website for more information. Welcome!

When we came to Chiang Mai we were not sure we wanted to do an elephant experience, but after reading the reviews for Elephant Rescue we decided to book a half day tour and we are glad we did! Our guide Arm framed the rescue operation really nicely and was a fun and knowledgeable companion for the day. All aspects of the tour were well run, starting with the initial communication via email and WhatsApp and the timely pick up. The rescue is a small operation and our half day tour had around a dozen people from all different continents. We loved the elephants and got a lot of time to interact with them. The lunch was excellent and we got more time to hang out in beautiful surroundings and exchange stories with other visitors. I would highly recommend this experience and the Elephant Rescue for all ages!

Fantastic experience. Pickup from our hotel, the tour guide was brilliant, hilarious and informative, and the lunch was fab. The elephants are taken care of brilliantly as well. You get a good amount of time with them ( we had the half day package). Overall couldn't fault it. A must do when you're in Chiang Mai

Finding a reputable sanctuary in Thailand can be a struggle, but after researching the web, we came across the Elephant Rescue Park. The day we spent helping prepare medicine for Bunma, the eldest elephant, feeding her, meeting Mopi and Menoi, taking them for a walk, and bathing them was a great way to do our part in helping these animals rescued from the logging and entertainment industry. We'll never forget this day, as it was beautiful and uplifting. Also, the team working there is super friendly and makes you feel at ease immediatly. If you are considering meeting elephants in the Chiang Mai area and come across this review, know that you're in the right place and should book a tour with them.

Thanks for sharing your love to our elephants. After spending time with them we hope that you can tell why people should do the tour with us? It’s not just getting good experience but it is real support to us for providing good care to these rescued elephants. Without your support we couldn’t help them completely. Regards,

Was an amazing 1/2 day trip! We were able to interact with 6 elephants. We learned to feed them and then walked with them up the hill and through a lovely valley and then we got into the pond and washed them. We also had a really good lunch. It was a very special day and well worth the money!

We had the most amazing visit to the Elephant Rescue Park and would highly recommend a visit to meet the elephants and learn more about their experiences at the rescue park.

We decided to arrange for the Serene Boutique Elephant Care package and didn’t regret spending a bit more. We were picked up at our hotel at 6:30 am and on the journey out to the park we learned about the elephants and their rescues from farming, circuses and mistreatment. The elephants have been rescued but remain domesticated and as such, the park offers them a safe home and gentle life.

Our package allowed us (my husband and I) to be the only guests with 2 elephants, their handler and our guide. We started our morning by changing into the centre clothing that the elephants are familiar with then meeting and greeting the elephants. We fed them a range of food suitable for their diets and then took an amazing walk into the hills with them, going at their pace and wandering beside them. After about an hour or so, we then walked down to a reservoir area and went into the water with them to give them a wash a scrub. The elephants appeared very relaxed and at ease the whole time. When asked, they also enjoyed playing a few tricks on us by splashing us and getting us wet.

We then returned up to the centre and had a delicious lunch before heading back to our hotel. En route we visited the Elephant Poo Poo Paper Park which was fun and interesting.

We would highly recommend spending the extra money to have your private time with the elephants and their handlers. It is well worth the money for the great interactions you have during your visit.

Just amazing , I spent time researching because unfortunately there are many companies which copy this centre and do so for the wrong reasons. These elephants , all 10 of the beautiful domestic elephants have been genuinely rescued , in fact the truth is that other companies actually hire the elephants- not here and because they trust us in our uniforms they are happy for us to touch them (after we had been taught how to of course!). We bathed them too and it was incredibly special . You have to experience this to understand just the wonderful care and attention which is given to them. One keeper for each elephant, the Thai man who set up the centre has recently been given an honour from Thailand as “Man of the year” for his work. It was an honour and a privilege to spend time with these very intelligent and wise animals. Just go - please and help them, our visit helps pay for their upkeep and care , just think of it as being a little like a fabulous care home for elephants and therefore you’d want them to have only the very best care. This is what you will see and feel ❤️🐘❤️
