Like many Thai temples, this is a campus with many buildings. One of the ancient ones has earthquake damage but you can still see the amazing architecture and it's worth taking the time to look at it from all sides. There are many smaller buildings...More

Really impressing part of the city I was wondering why so many elephants where missing! Back in the days they had hard earthquakes! That info I received by the monks, they like to help u. Don’t be shy talk to them.

There are many beautiful Wats in Chiang Mai but this is the best of them in my opinion. Steeped in history and an architectural wonder, pay your small entry fee and enjoy the visit.

Probably my favourite site of our visit. Wat Chedi Luang was magnificent as well as the smaller temples surrounding it! Definitely a must see when in Chiang Mai!

I have been many temples in Chiang Mai. Wat Chedi Luang is the best. Gotta pay 💰 as well. For female need to cover shoulder to enter to inside for respect. Hat is not allowed insides either.

This temple is right in the centre of old Chiangmai town. Probably the one with oldest pagoda structure. It was damaged during earthquake in 1545 but they managed to do some minor restoration to it. The main temple hall is magnificent with a tall gold...More

We saved Wat Chedi Luang for our final wat visit and it was probably the best we saw in the old town. The buildings are excellent and it's quite nice to be able to see the old remains if the original Chedi with its elephants...More

This beautiful Wat is a well preserved ruin. It's in all the guidebooks. I usually avoid tourist places (live here) but the atmosphere is very soothing (even with the Chinese tourist hordes).

A very interesting big temple in the center of Chiang Mai. Not to be missed. The younger monks nearby like to practice their English so a good opportunity to exchange ideas with tem.

okay it cost 40 bahts to get in, but was well worth it. plenty of monks painting the wat and the inside of the adjacent temple is simply stunning.

Hi, Not sure if there are set time or if there are one or more all day during opening hours. We saw a Monk sat with someone having a chat when we were there. That was around 15:00pm. I read somewhere that the earlier the... More

I doubt the temple will close that late, and it's more than likely to close around 6-7pm... The monks staying in the Chedi Luang need to rest anyway! :)

Hi Kuan, I verified this with my friend who lives in Chiang Mai. The temple is open from 8:00AM-5:00PM everyday. Hope this helps!
