Came at the right time - late on a Sunday evening - and the very nice security guard let us in for 10 minutes or so. Although it looks extremely fenced off it is definitely worth asking whoever is there guarding it - worst they...More

Could not get close to the monument, as the entire thing is fenced in. Can take photos through the bars of the fence. Tried on several occasions to find out how to gain entry, all I could get was a shrug.

There is not much to see or do, but the view of the monument from the 27th floor of the Hotel 2 Fevrier is excellent. If you go to the bar on the 27th floor and then go to the gents toilet, you get the...More

Next to the hotel 2 Fevrier. Clean and quiet place. Gates are generally closed, if you want to take picture you have to take it from outside. If you are in Lome, its worth a visit.

Not much to say about this landmark as it's in the middle of a closed-off plaza so you can't really get close enough to see anything. You'd probably get a better look by seeing photos online.

Definitely drive by here to see the impressive monument to independence. There are lovely reflecting pools and gardens but these are not accessible to the public. This is definitely for show, which defeats the purpose of the monument and park.

Typical oversized monument to national independence. Lots of money spent on the monument and grounds with little to see and do for the general Togo public.

It's a lovely landmark to behold and beautifully built. It was built to honour Togo's independence from France in 1960. The human silhouette is breaking away in freedom but the lovely gardens offset by the sunshine and blue skies make it worth spending a few...More

One of the problems with this monument is that you have to view it from a distance.as independence monuments go it looks better than many, it's clear what it is and not over elaborate.

It is a grand monument somewhat out of keeping with the rest of Lome but nice to see if you can - take a moto or ocada

Any Taxi man should get you there for circa $5- $8, or if you are adventurous, the motorcyclist will also take you there for a far lesser fee
