From the outside, the building is quite impressive. I visited East Berlin before the fall of the wall some 40 years ago and what is shown truly reminded me of what I the saw, pompous and old style.

Beautiful masterpiece and sculptured building in the city centre, free entrance for the visit. Excellent capture of the history of Namibia and its hero's, worth a visit when in Windhoek.

Located on the hill at the Christuskirche Roundabout, surely you wont miss it if you are nearby the Parliament garden. A historical place rich with Namibian Culture & Natural Heritage.

What a great surprise this building and museum was. After parking in the nearby Church and enjoying the architecture we walked over to the Independence Museum and spent a good couple of hours learning about the history of Namibia and enjoying the views! Recommend.

This building is a must to visit. It provides a perfect history of the country and shows by photos how the country has come to be what it is today, wonderful!

A nice overview of Namibian history and the fight for independence. I am sure it may be a biased view to many, but they can write tetra own history as they wish. The glass elevator ride is cool.

Free to visit but if you wish to take photos of the city views, then you must buy something from the bar/restaurant. Good views. There is also a small craft stall on the cafe level. The lifts take you to whichever level you need for...More

One of the problems with the TripAdvisor site is the constant confusion of the independence memorial museum with the nearby national museum --- these are two different museums!
