First things first - doing this as a day trip in the wet season is a bad idea. It takes two hours to get out there from Addis and then back in again due to traffic and the rain renders the mud road up to the entrance nearly impassable....More

We went on a pre-arranged day trip with Venture Ethiopia. I would not recommend going with them for a number of reasons: 1. They arrived 1 hour late to collect us. 2. They were not prepared with our lunch which meant we had to wait...More

This was a long trip on some bad roads and the end produced was not really worth the effort. An interesting place and the oldest in Africa but needs more than a little TLC to make me return.

Hi, you really need to get a car with a driver or pay the taxi to wait for you. If it's still raining a lot, you will need a four wheel driver vehicle as the road is steep and unsealed. It will cost about USD$100 - $110 for... More
