Gaborone of Botswana, the capital, is situated in the southeast of the country and is at the forefront of education, sport and culture. Just 10km southwest of the Gaborone Sun Hotel is the privately operated, 3000 ha Mokolodi Nature Reserve, where visitors can go on guided game walks amongst the beautiful natural scenery, sharing the same soil with elephant, cheetah and antelope.

We were in Gaborone on a business trip and wanted to see some wildlife; a taxi to Mokolodi was about 45 minutes. The power had been out at Mokolodi for a couple of days because of storms and so our reservation confirmation hadn't been received, but no matter, a guide and a tracker were still able to take us to... Our family drove over well maintained roads to see exciting and wonderful animals in their natural environment.

Mokolodi Game Reserve is conveniently close to airport - 30 min outside of traffic. The game rangers are excellent and the views from the chalets are fantastic. It's probably better for a family getaway than a couples getaway as many activities require minimum 4-6 people to book. The park is relatively small with limited game, as such a weekend is... More

On a business trip to Gaberone and was in a Guesthouse just down the road and as a last minute thing did a late afternoon game drive, as it was only me I had to pay more but well worth it. Unfortunately the area was in the grip of a drought but this was good for game viewing as the... More

The Game Drive is an adventure waiting to unfold. From the very start of the adventure you are told that the animals are wild and they are not feed by humans, they feed on each other, as such the animals do not come looking for you - you have to find them in their natural habitat. They do not pose... More

We were staying at Mokoldi house --separate review--this is just up the road and a good find. Great park--good game drives--Excellent restaurant which gives you the best despite the constant power cuts. A 4 wheel drive is advisable but not essential.

The purpose of our visit was to do the rhino tracking adventure. And adventure it was! We were taken care of by tracker Janet and guide Moushiba who were awesome for their patience. We happened to go there after it had rained and initially we were told that it would be very difficult to track the rhinos: they move more... More

we spent one night in a cottage at the reserve and found it comfortable and clean. unfortunately the road is very rocky and even with a 4x4 on needs to travel carefully. the cottages are 3,4km from the restaurant which I think is too far.

We enjoyed our stay here. We were lucky to have the chalet nearest to the watering hole and spent all day watching all sorts of animals coming by. Fantastic. It was very peaceful. The chalet was basic and clean. Lots of outside space. Great for kids. Our game ride was enjoyable though the guide was a little charmless. Generally all... More

Recently did a bush braai at Mokolodi. I went into it with fairly low expectations. We started with mimosas outside the main office. We then boarded a bush vehicle and did a nice one hour sunset bush drive. There were three kids less than two in our group so a short drive was perfect. We did not see much but... More
