We booked a day trip to Chobe through Wild Horizons and it was excellent! We were on the fence about booking at first since we spent 5 days on safari in South Africa with amazing sightings and were afraid of being disappointed. However we are glad we decided to book this trip. We had lots of great sightings and the landscape is totally different from what we saw in South Africa and is really beautiful.
From the beginning the transfer through the border was smooth, we were picked up from our lodge and then transported across the border to the Mowana lodge in Botswana. From there we boarded the boat for the river portion of the tour. We saw many hippos, some crocodiles, a few Fish Eagles and many other birds, some buffalo, giraffes, etc. But the highlight of this portion in my opinion was seeing herds of elephants crossing the river, it was really amazing to see.
After the river safari we were dropped back at Mowana for a lunch buffet. The food was good and there was a large variety. Lunch included one free drink (Wine or liquor is extra but beer was included). After the one hour lunch we were transferred to the vehicle to begin the game drive. It was a short drive to get into Chobe. We again saw many many elephants and extremely close. It is the closest we have gotten to an elephant. We also saw some groups of giraffes, zebras, impala, kudu, baboons, and a couple young male lions!
Transfer back took a little longer as many in our group needed to buy visas back into Zimbabwe but it was still a smooth process. Overall highly recommend a day trip to Chobe and Wild Horizons did a great job facilitating the tour.
