This park is located between the 22 and 23 mile markers on the road to Hana. There are bathroom facilities (not great, but at least they have them) and picnic tables if you want to have lunch. There are several waterfalls here to see, but the best requires a bit of a scary walk - totally worth it though!
If you go to the waterfall in the back of the park - you can see it from the picnic tables area - there is a very skinny trail along the right side of the pool. Walk up the hill along this trail. When you reach the top, there will be a viaduct off to your left with a skinny bridge for you to walk across - no rails or anything on either side. This is a bit scary, especially for those afraid of heights, but the waterfall you'll reach is totally worth it. Walk just a bit further to have a great view of the waterfall. If you continue along the trail, you can also get down to the pool and even go swimming! This waterfall and pool was really secluded. We only saw two other people back there, and they were leaving just as we arrived. It was an amazing place to relax and enjoy for a bit!
There is a decent amount of paved parking here. I would definitely recommend stopping here on the road to Hana. What a beautiful place!

Near mile marker 22.5 on Hana Road. You cannot miss this place because it is a real park with restrooms, parking and picnic tables. There are a couple of small falls near the road but if you walk up the stairs and to the end of the park you will see a nice fall pouring into a small natural pool.
It is the best place to put on your swimsuit and go swim under the fall. Be cautious because the rocky bottom is really slippery. You should also know that the water is really really cold. But don't let those things stop you because I really enjoyed going in and go under the fall. How often do you have the chance to see the back of water!
It is a must-see along the Road to Hana.

This is the place to stop if you're looking for a typically Hawaiian swimming hole and waterfall to swim under. The water is from a natural spring, unbelievably clean, but very cold. My kids, walked across the rocks and stayed in the shallow area while I swam out to go under the waterfall. Remember, everything is done at your own risk. Know your own ability. The depth by the waterfall is around 8 feet, so don't think you'll be able to stand and get a break from swimming when you get out there.
Also a good place to stop on the Road to Hana because there are real bathrooms here.

If you're on the Road to Hana, this is an obvious stop because of the bathrooms. They're not clean, but they're not squatting in the woods either. The smaller waterfalls here are pretty and offer and nice spot to stop and stretch your legs. We ate lunch at a waterfall a few miles before this, but if we hadn't, this would be a great spot to have a picnic lunch!

This is a nice little waterfall at a park along the Road to Hana. You can stretch your legs, use the restroom and see the waterfall.

Good place to stop and use the restrooms. There is also a nice little waterfall just off the road. You might be able to see some idiot jumping off the cliff into the pool (2 idiots on the day we were there).

You can view a waterfall at this stop, which provides ample paved parking, making it easy to get out and stretch your legs after driving about halfway to Kipahulu Visitors' Center. This is one of the few stops with restroom facilities along the road to Hana. (Mile marker 22.6)

This park is nice, has bathrooms, as little swimming holes but not too many people in them. There are tables, some parking and waterfalls. Mile marker 21.
One of the first major stops but still only takes 20 minutes. We had a couple bites from our cooler here.
Lots of random stray cats hanging around. I wouldn’t touch them.
Would recommend.

We went in July. It was a little cloudy and the water was a little cold but refreshing. Not very crowded.

The state park has facilities but definitely no toilet paper in the women's bathroom. The waterfalls are easy to get to and a nice swim. Eat our picnic lunch here! So peaceful. Don't forget your bug spray though!

I hear that there is a bacteria (leptospirosis) a person can get from swimming in the waterfall pools. Is it safe to swim here?
