About
This secluded beach hideaway in Kilauea is one of Kauai’s best-kept secrets. To reach the beach, you'll have to navigate carefully down an unpaved road, and hike along a fairly steep trail. But reach your destination and you'll be treated to a crowd-free beach with stunning views of Mokuaeae Island and the Kilauea Lighthouse. Secret Beach is also a great surfing and fishing spot and you’ll find locals meditating or picnicking near the trailhead. There's even a clothing-optional section at the far end of the beach. But come prepared—there are no lifeguards, restrooms or public facilities. – Tripadvisor

While we were there the tides were very high and waters rough so we could not swim. The beach did look nice. I would try another time.

Beautiful place. However it’s a very local surf spot and I was met with some very unfriendly looks. The trek down is very steep and slippery after rain. I personally wouldn’t go down with young children although I saw a couple children down there.
Nice remote beach if you’re daring to deal with the local sneers. No signs.

This beach is so so beautiful. The trail down is pretty simple (going back up not so much haha) but it’s well worth it. The beach is empty and stunning.

Just be careful of the troll who hangs out in the trail.. we ran into a local guy who was insulting tourists on their way down to the beach. He shouted some insults to us on our way down and it was pretty scary considering we were the only ones there at the time.

Funny story we actually ran into the same guy while buying groceries at the Foodland in Princeville. Turns out his name is Ethan…pic below so you can keep an eye out for him. Stay safe and enjoy this wonderful beach!

This beach was the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen! The hike to it is a bit strenuous but so worth it! Don’t carry too much gear with you. I had a backpack and was fine, but my husband carried an ice chest and a couple of beach chairs, and he struggled a bit. He made it there and back, though, so it can be done. You make it to the end of the jungle trail and see through the clearing a magnificent beach with turquoise water and black rocks on either end with the lighthouse in the far off distance. Absolutely amazing!

My favorite beach on our stay! It was quite a hike down and back up but it was so worth it. I wore flip flops and managed just fine

Bit of a hike to get there but totally worth it!! The lighthouse in the back ground give a unique setting for photos! The tide could be a little rough at times but overall a beautiful place!!

This beach is not easily accessible, which is what makes it amazing! The views are incredible and it is a perfectly quiet hideaway. The walk down to the beach is by a steep trail so I recommend wearing good footwear (no sandals or flip flops). It is slippery and can be quite dangerous if you are not paying attention or wearing good shoes. The water is rough so I do not recommend this beach for swimming. I do not recommend taking young children down this trail. Keep in mind also, you must climb back up so if you are physically struggling to go down the trail, maybe reconsider.

Beautiful beach, with warning signs of how many deaths from the rough waters. It was a steep trail & also muddy when we were there. So wear good shoes & maybe take a walking stick.

The servers were very nice and quick about things. My only complaint is one side of the beach is quite cramped and doesn't offer much beach space.
