This review is long overdue as we took our trip last Feb/March. I want to recognize River Rat Expeditions as having very professional and safe tour guides/drivers. David was our driver and was very attentive, friendly and easy to talk to. Gonzo was our tour...More

Gonzo was an AMAZING guide at Actun Tunichil Muknal. (ATM cave). I was fortunate that my brother and I were the only 2 with Gonzo. He was so knowledgeable about the cave and the Mayan history. He answered all of our questions. He pointed out...More

Amazing. Gonzo is extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate. He can occasionally get off on a tangent but everything is interesting so it's no problem. Tour is surprisingly physically challenging. Most things that say 'moderate to strenuous' don't really mean it. This isn't for the faint...More

Truly magical experience. Gonzo took us places in the cave where most people don't go. You could tell that he is a premium tour guide when other tours ask for his insight. Thanks Gonzo!

We used River Rats to do the ATM cave tour in San Ignacio as a referral from some friends that had went a few years prior and spoke greatly of this tour company. There are restrooms at the start of this tour in the parking...More

Gonzo is an excellent guide. Very safety conscious and sensitive of the delicate environment. In his "off" months, he is an archeological cave researcher so he is full of hand-on knowledge.

Gonzo and David took us on this amazing journey of the ATM cave tour. Gonzo being a archeological researcher himself brought the whole Maya experience to life. While the other tourists were being shuttled in and out of the cave, we experienced a totally remarkable...More
