Good Drinks and Food
Feb 2021 • Couples
We had a few appetizers (pimento cheese, bacon and jalapeño jelly) and enjoyed them all. The bacon and jelly were clearly our two favorites . For entrees, we had the chicken fried steak, chicken hand pie, pork chop and meat loaf. All entrees were exceptional , and their sides, except for the chop. Not sure what happened to it but it wasn’t very tasteful and had a charred taste instead of grilled. Still, 3 out of 4 and great sides is a good showing. Just mind what you order. Drinks and cocktail list is far above average for a college town. Atmosphere is great. We’d definitely go back.

Great Food and Service
Jan 2018
A party of 10 of us went to The Hound to celebrate my birthday. We called a couple of days ahead to make reservations and had to change our desired time frame because they were so busy. They only take limited reservations and save most of their tables for walk-ins.They will not seat you until your whole party arrives. We were seated promptly at our reservation time and even though they were very busy, we got excellent service. The food came very timely and everyone agreed that the food was excellent. Several at the table had the meat loaf and it is not your Mama's meatloaf; it is really good. I had the pork chop and it was outstanding. It was cooked to perfect and had an excellent flavor. One person had the shrimp and grits and said it was good, but not outstanding. For most of our group, this was their first time eating at The Hound and all agreed that they would definitely come back.

Great End to an Exhausting AU Move In
Aug 2017 • Family
My wife and I recently moved our son back to school at Auburn and wanted to cap off the activities with brunch with his new roommate & family. We definitely picked the right place for the BEST SUNDAY BRUNCH in Auburn. Great atmosphere, incredible food at a reasonable price. After three helpings of "Pig Candy", we all agreed that this was the best way to end an incredible weekend. We will be back to make more memories with our new friends in the near future.

Awesome "southern" burgers
Nov 2015 • Couples
The Hound is one of those amazing, "out of the way" college burger joints that take you back to your own college days. Beer is cold and burgers are out of this world. Take the time to find this place. It is situated behind the city parking deck - but all the locals know about it. A real hidden gem.

Tucked Away
Jul 2015
Weary from travel, we had a fabulous meal here. The vegetable lasagna was excellent and the fish was perfectly grilled. The photo is of the bread pudding desert that we also enjoyed. Our waitress went out of her way to make sure we had a good experience. The restaurant is a bit difficult to find but definitely worth looking for!

A great finish to graduation day
May 2015 • Couples
We made reservations for a group of 5 to celebrate our son's graduation. Many restaurants were not open on Sunday evening. We were delighted to get a reservation at the last minute and when we arrived, we were promptly shown to our table. The menu features many unusual meat dishes and we ordered a variety. My choice was the lamb meatballs which were first rate. Several of our group ordered steaks and were also happy with their choices. The dates wrapped in bacon appetizer was a big hit everyone in our group. We could have easily eaten several orders. Our server was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. A wonderful celebration at the end of graduation day!

Great casual dining
The Hound waitress wear t shirts that say "beer and bacon"....what could be better! Small menu that changes frequently features fresh salads, meatloaf with house smoked bacon, build your own burgers (beef or bison), lamb meatballs, 75 bourbons and about 28 beers on tap. Starters include house fried pork rinds and Scoth eggs - not your normal items but fun and delicious. Wait staff is efficient....we were there on a graduation night so they were really busy but on top of everything. There had been a mixup on our reservations ( my fault) and Shelby corrected it for us and got us in the night we needed. Highly recommend this fun college restaurant.

Pre-Game Meal for A-Day Game
Met with Ariel and Angie for Pre-Game Meal. Neat Southern Fare. The value is fantastic, the atmosphere rustic lodge, the wait staff is wonderful (request Alma, she's great), shrimp and grits is great the redneck Benedict is a tad bit soupy but so worth the experience. We will be back...
