Was finishing a trip with my 10 year old daughter to the National Mall and saw many dining options here on the map. We were headed to the airport next so the blue line Metro stop that is in the building was an added bonus.
We went inside the food court on a Sunday at 5:00PM. None of the shops were open and we walked through the entire place to find only the Panda Express open for dining. I have no idea what the hours are but it seems 5:00PM any day of the week a dining place would be open for business.
Panda Express was a bit busy which wasn't surprising since that was the only dining option. The building has been recently remodeled so it is nice.

The plaza was very clean, and although some of the restaurants were closed my group and I were all pleased with our meals after visiting the spy museum. The property is very clean and well lit. The security guards and a cleaning lady were both very friendly. I subtracted one star because of my terrible experience I had in the parking garage.

The various options of the Plaza itself are nothing to make a trip for. Best only of you happen to be there and don't want to take the time to go anywhere else. The prime benefit here is adjacency to a metro station which is convenient to the National Mall/Smithsonian.

He did a quick weekend trip to D.C. and booked at the Hilton in L’ Enfant Plaza. About the best location we could have picked. Walking distance to the Wharf for entertainment and great restaurants, and walking distance to the Mall and all of the monuments and museums. And in front is the Spy museum! A must visit. One tip, plan 2 hours min per museum. So much to see. Highlights were: capital building and a chance opportunit to witness a senate in session, lincoln memorial and washington monument at night, the National Air and Space museum, and the Spy museum.

This plaza is the best of all worlds. It is a Metro stop for one. You have multiple food options to choose from. There is also a Hilton hotel with direct access there. It is a win win win place to be.

Finding parking near Smithsonian is impossible. When I have friends and family in from out of town and don't take the Metro, then L'Enfant Plaza is where I go to park for museums, cherry blossom festival, etc. There's also a food court but think it's only weekday lunch and not weekends.

Hilton L’Enfant is excellent and there is a great food court and shopping adjacent. Walking distance to National Mall and many monuments.

I generally stop here before taking the Express Bus to the Dulles International Airport. There are shops here where one can go shopping and Food Court that offers several food options. The latest one I tried was the Vietnamese Restaurant that offers delicious pho or soups plus other Vietnamese dishes. Note that there is also public restrooms near this Food Court.
A block away from here is the Bus Stop for Express Bus to the Dulles International Airport or IAD. The fare is only $5 per person. It makes 2 stops in Virginia before proceeding to the airport.

We stayed here mainly because my friend had a conference at that hotel. And it was pretty close to where my son and future daughter-in-law live. Let me see those were the only advantages. We waited a long time to register and that was at 11 o’clock in the evening. Of course the restaurant was closed, in the bar had Last call in an hour.
We went to her room hungry and tired and walks what felt like 300 yards from the elevator to get to our room.
Decent nights sleep so the next morning, I called for room service. Been traveling a lot in my life never knew that I hadTo order room service through the television and that there were no substitutions allowed. When the order didn’t arrive in the 30 minutes promised I call down and received a call from the operator who said that if I wanted to pick up my room service I could otherwise it was a five dollar surcharge to have it brought to the room.
That’s ridiculous.
The next day I came back from meetings, at 5 o’clock and the room wasn’t made up.
I called customer service and was told that they were still cleaning rooms I asked them to get there now. The woman on the other end of the phone said that she was busy and they were busy and they would get to me when they could.
The final straw was when the housekeeper finally did come and change the towels one of the “clean “towels had a brown stain on it. I’ll leave it to you from where that stain came from.
I have been a blue Hilton honors member for a while, but I have to tell you that there were no advantages for that on this trip except free Wi-Fi which was slow anyway.
Oh and by the way the pool. Closed for construction which they did not have while I was there.

Is the L’Enfant Plaza within walking disrtance to The Residence Inn/Washington/DC , 333 E Street?

Yeah, maybe, but take the Metro instead!!!
I've stayed at that residence Inn. You walk out, and just around the corner is Federal Center Metro. I think about 3 Metro Lines (silver, blue, orange) all go from Federal Center to L'Enfant Plaza ... so every couple of minutes.
What PART of L'Enfant are you trying to get to ... Spy Museum is on the opposite side of the L'Enfant complex, so a much longer walk. Smithsonian Air and Space is on the near side, so a shorter walk.
I think I walked it once, but decide to ride the metro instead.

Is this a good option to eat something during the afternoon in the National Mall?

YES. We did this as a family after some time on the mall. Some of us went to Five Guys, others to AuBonPan, LOTS of options, easy access from the mall (go under the DOE building and up towards the Post Office and the Spy Museum and you are right there.
20 to 30 places to eat ... pizza, Chinese, Burgers, Italian, everything. HUGE food court.
VERY busy right around Noon .... if you can be a bit earlier or bit later, you'll probably like it better.
Please note, there are TWO food courts in the complex ... so if you don't see what you want at one end, try the other end.
(NOTE, another good HUGE food court for lots of options in in Pentagon City Mall)
