About
The Capitol is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met here for more than two centuries. Begun in 1793, the Capitol has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored; today, it stands as a monument not only to its builders but also to the American people and their government.

Historic...

I had an amazing tour of the US Capitol. If you are able to, work with your Congressman on having a representative or Stafford assist you with a tour of the Capitol. This way you are guided to the various areas and provided bits of historical information regarding the statues, rooms, grounds, portraits etc. Luckily at this time it was District week and the congressman were away from session which allowed a special opportunity to view outside of the Speaker of The House's balcony. The view from the balcony is amazing as you can see the Washington Monument and other various historical buildings. I was also able to see the plaque an inscription for the Cornerstone laid by George Washington. Overall there is so much history there as it also connects to the original Supreme Court of which, there are three original seats and clock which still works today) and Senate chamber ( where you can see spittoons at the front).

The Rotonda offers beautiful statues and portraits as well as the Apotheosis of George Washington painted on the dome.

If only the nutjobs hadn't gotten to it...

Entire area is fenced off after the January incident. You can still walk around and see the various angles, but cannot even get remotely close to the building (not even on the lawn).

Police presence in the area is intense, with checkpoints for vehicles all around. Quite disappointing.

We were allowed to marvel at it from distance. Other tourists as well! When will we get to see it up close?

You are barred from going in. It was a minor disappointment one is not allowed in. For law abiding citizens, open her up!

She’s Still Standing!

Such a beautiful building! Sadly, for obvious reasons, you can no longer go inside, but walking the long walk across the lawn to see her still standing there so strong and beautiful makes one proud to be an American!

The architecture of this building is breath taking. Photos that wee see of the building in D.C. do not do justice. Must See. You can also request a tour to see the inside once the open back up (COVID).

Beautiful Day or Night
Dec 2019
We walked around U.S Capitol often since it is near Washington Court Hotel. The building is beautiful day or night, it gets really packed during day time we could hardly take a solo picture.

Whether or not you are pleased with Congress at any given time you should be pleased with the beauty of the US Capitol. You can also tour the Capitol inside as well.
