We have a family of kids who vary in age. This is probably the only thing we have visited in a few years where every single kid wanted to stay longer. It is a fascinating experience, like you are going back in time. The town...More

The route to Bodie involves several miles of dust and very bumpy, dirt road. {There are two ways in; take one in, the other out. The south road is longer, but there are fewer cars and trailers!} Bodie is special; don’t let the number of...More

The trip to Bodie is well worth the long drive, especially if you are a history buff . The town is an outdoor museum providing a glimpse into slices of time from 1870-1940. Over 100 original structures in various states of (dis)repair enable the visitor...More

This is quite a unique place, it was our first time visiting a ghost town and it was amazing to see all the buildings frozen in time. It is definitely worth taking the time to stop here for a couple of hours. You need to...More

Really enjoyed Bodie. Very quiet and lovely to wander round. Quite weird to see everything just left in the cabins. Somewhere to get a quick drink would be good. Plenty of parking.

Best ghost town we have seen and we have seen many. The difficulty with the last three miles of gravel road is overrated. Just drive slowly and carefully. The park does grade the last mile of the road. In many buildings from the mortuary to...More

I don't think so. The road is non-concrete for a few miles. No matter what your car is, you will have to drive slow. We drove at 15 mph.
