Castelo de Tavira is a poignant reminder of how important Tavira must have once been. The ruins are quite melancholy, but it is a fascinating stop. Free entry. Check the hours. It closes at 7:00 during the summer and at 5:00 during the winter. You...More

The entrance of the Tavira's castle is free. But do not expect to visit a castle, only the walls remain, from which one can have a nice view on the city and the surrounding region. Very nice garden inside the walls.

Don't expect jousting and armour! The views from the top are impressive but that's about it. If you're passing then stop in, but if not recommend making a special trip.

Stopped by for a quick overview of the city, ended up spending an afternoon. Walked the walls of the castello, sat in the garden to beat the sun and generally relaxed doing nothing but reading and people watching.

Free to enter and atmospheric gardens within. Nice views of the town and sea beyond from the ramparts, but crazily busy early August when we went.

Very pretty gardens within the ancient walls. The walls themselves have very steep steps that aren't easy, but the views are great if you can! But still worth a visit even if you don't as the gardens are beautiful and as its free to get...More

This is my second time go stroll around this lovely walled garden. Great views from the battlements and an extra bonus after our visit to the camera obscurer at the top of the hill. Definitely worth a few minutes of your time. 🌸🌺🌼

The castle is free to enter and is worth a visit. It does now have handrails to the steps up to the towers, and has a pretty garden at the centre.

Nice gardens in the ruins of an old fort. Quite a few uneven steps to climb but well worth the effort. Nice views over Tavira enhanced by two local buskers playing the guitar and singing. Free to get in.

Hello. I see that you already have got two good answers. I will just add that the tourist information is in the town centre, easy to find, and you can get more advice from them. Enjoy. Tavira is a very lovely place.
