Viru Gates were built in the 14thC, and the towers still standing today are only a part of the original structure. Viru Gates are located in the eastern section of the town wall. The main tower of the gates was built in its initial form in 1345-1355. Today, Viru Gates are one of the entrances into the Old Town leading to numerous shops and restaurants in Viru Street.

These are a beautiful historic attraction but you won't need to spend much time here. There are some shops around and places to sit and eat but that's it.

This time machine takes you back in time to medieval times. At the beautiful gates you can practically see the old soviet buildings changing to the medieval buildings around you as you pass.

One of the delights of Tallinn is wandering the streets and coming across chunks of town wall and gates. These are some of the biggest and best - most of the gates are smaller ones with portcullis slots etc.

Before entering this entrance, you will be amazed at a lot of beautiful flower shops. This is the main entrance from the city center. It is easy to find there.I'm sure you can enjoy the place.
