WHen you are in Sopron you hardly can miss this tower. It is on the Main Square, but you can see it from far away. From the tower itself you have very nice view on the city. There is a small exhibition too, it is...More

This gave us great views of the medieval town. The exhibits also gave the history of the town. We enjoyed the sunset from the top.

As we were walking through Fő Tér/Hauptplatz, we saw people on the lodge of the tower and we decided to have a visit in there. If you are a student, you are eligible for a large discount on the entrance ticket (HUF 580). We entered...More

I am a "bit" afraid of heights, but working on it, so we took all the stairs to see the beautiful view of Sopron, it was worthy. Oh, and you can find a facebook photo frame also there to take a picture with ;)

We were staying at Hotel Sopron so we could overlook the city with the tower proud above it. It looks spectacular at night.

A bit spendy but great history and views. Best place in town to start your trip to get familiar with things. Not terribly crowded and you'll be treated with a 360 view when you get near the top.

The Fire Tower was originally built between the 13th and 14th centuries, destroyed by fire and rebuilt in the 17th, and is a beautiful sight in the 21st. An excellent reminder of how long Sopron has been a city.

Fire Tower (Tuztorony) / Firewatch Tower located at the northern end of the Main Square is the symbol of Sopron. The tower acquired its present form with its Baroque. Today is the famous place tourist visit for this city.

English version is below. A torony és a museum a kiállítással nagyon érdekes volt számunkra. A gyerkőcök is imádták a lépcsőzést. :-) The tower with the museum and the exhibition was very interesting for us. We liked it. The kids loved the stairs. :-)

Besides the symbol of the city, the view is nice and interesting. You get back to past centuries and saw also (at least us) Alps from there, old city, hill with the mill, etc.... really recommendable

We stayed in a hotel with secure parking and did not see public car parks. The streets are mainly narrow so off-road parking could be a problem. It is a lovely place, and there must be parking but I can't help tell you... More
