Inteteresting and decorative

National Museum in Cracow (The Main Building) houses at present exclusively The Gallery of Decorative Art, which is extremely interesting but a little bit disappointing if you expected to see paintings by Wyspianski, Mehoffer, Chelmonski and Boznanska and other Polish masters. I’ve learned at the box offfice (but at the museum website), that the paintings cannot be seen now because they are in the storehouse.

Pretty Good but Nothing Special
Jan 2020
Visited the museum and it my favorite section was with furniture and home ware. Really nice collection! the massive carved wardrobes were amazing. I wish there was more description on artifacts like who would was likely to own particular piece or how much did one of those massive wardrobes weigh. I was missing the story around the objects and art. One really cool thing was that you're able to try on some armor replicas - kids will love this. I think they should have more of that. Worth a visit.

Disappointing
Dec 2019 • Couples
We expected to see more interesting things and especially more paintings. It was a little boring and we felt disappointed when we leftleft. Could have been made a better try to make this museum interesting for the tourists and for the local people.

Disappointing

We visited the museum to see the Da Vinci. There is very little else to see to be honest. I wouldn’t have gone if I’d realised how little there is

Great museum for Polish history
Oct 2019
I thought this was a great museum for learning about Polish history and culture. I only saw the permanent exhibits, and they took me a few hours to get through. The audioguide is totally worth it because you get way more information and context about what you're seeing than is provided in signs posted. The old artifacts were really cool, and there was a lot of unique stuff specific to the region.

Worth it for the Leonardo
Oct 2019 • Couples
It cost us 25Pzl for two people to all exhibits and an audio guide. We got there early and spent about 10 minutes looking at the Da Vinci. The room was empty. A bit later a group arrived and it got busy so early is best.

There are three floors and it took about 3 hours to look at everything. The art on the top floor is very interesting and thought provoking. The weaponry is good.

The cafe downstairs is reasonably priced. To be honest, we didn't need the audio guide as much as we thought so If you want to save money you can skip this.

Very engaging - be careful with tickets though!
Sep 2019 • Couples
Lovely whistle stop tour of the museum on the morning before we had to travel home. A real privilege to be able to see the Da Vinci and with just two of us in the room at the time! As others have noted - a stark contrast to at the Louvre -much more time to take it in and no bruises from hustling to get close! The Wajda exhibition was also very evocative and well set out - inspiration to do more research on him.

The permanent exhibitions were interesting but difficult to attach any relevance to, although that could just be a personal thing. A varied collection though.

Finally, please be careful that you get the right tickets for what you want to see! Though almost certainly through my own fault, we were denied entry to a few of the temporary exhibitions despite asking for tickets to everything. We were even ushered out of one half way through looking after already being allowed in by a different member of staff. There are a few things based on the second floor up two fairly hefty sets of stairs. It would be annoying to get up there only to have to go back down to get more tickets!

Came for Wajda
Sep 2019
I came for Wajda and stayed for the entire museum. The temporary exhibitsare individually priced and quite expensive by Polish standards. Wajda exhibit was a masterpiece. Do not miss it.
