This was just outside the Solidarity Museum. Massive monument, worth checking out after visiting the museum.

Nothing there other than the monument itself.. However it does commemorate the death of shipyard workers cut down under Polish government orders in 1970.

This is a monument to Solidarity - to fallen shipyard workers. There's so much history in this location. I can't even describe it. I recall the solidarity movement in the 1970's. At this square there is a board showing the requirements of the shipyard workers...More

Sad to hear what happened here. Went as part of the free walking tour which I say is an absolute must do when in this beautiful city. You will learn about their modern struggle for freedom.

It was both interesting and sad to hear the tales of communist occupation through our guide (and her childhood), as well as the 1970’s bloody uprisings that eventually led to Freedom and this monument in present day. We drove by without stopping, but still impactful.

The sobering story of Solidarity comes to a moving memorial for those who lost their lives. This was the first monument allowed by the Communists and remembers those who gave their lives.

it is an experience sitting in front of the large monument thinking about Lech Walesa and his upraising against the russians
