We joined English Heritage earlier this summer and have tried to justify the fee by Looking at places to visit. Beeston castle appealed as it was an hour's drive away and of course dig friendly. As with other reviews I was shocked at the parking...More

I accept that this is a ruins and not a full castle experience, but there should be signage and information all around the site to let you know what you are looking at, perhaps an artists impression of how it once was etc. Directions are...More

Run by English Heritage there are some ruins but a second attraction is the 360 degree view from the top where you can see for miles in all directions.

My overriding thoughts are that it is over priced for what is essentially a walk up a hill to a newly built bridge way to see a small section of castle remains. The views are good however.

We took our two grandsons to this castle at half term. We were warned it was a steep climb so my disabled husband stayed in the garden while we struggled ever upward. The first part of the castle was interesting but the boys persuaded me...More

Facilities are good but getting around the grounds of the castle in a wheelchair could prove to be difficult. It is very steep.

Definitely not. It's a very steep climb with uneven gravel, grass and steps. If I had a baby I would use a sling or back carrier or wait till child was 4 or 5 yrs.
