Greeted by the friendly volunteers. Everyone was kind and attentive to my toddler. Interesting military history of Townsville. There's a tank/kids area.

Run by volunteers, this is a real gem, showcasing the history of the defence and those who have served from Townsville. Some great pieces of memorabilia on the museum. Well worth a visit.

Lots to see here

Shout out to the lovely and very dedicated volunteers at this Museum. The work and thought that has gone into the displays is obvious. Set on the now public grounds of Jezzine Barracks, the Museum provides a comprehensive account of Australia’s military history and the rolls of honour for WW1 and WW2 are just beautiful.

Must For Military History Fans

This museum displays the history of the Australian army from the Boer War through the present. The greatest emphasis is on World War I. It is well designed with tremendous amounts of information available for those wanting to take the time to read everything. Casual visitors will likely be happy quickly strolling through in an hour. Lovely walking tracks, art galleries, and the Strand are nearby. Check opening days and hours before you go as they are limited.

Unknow local gem
Jul 2019 • Family
We were the first locals out of the 8 groups ahead of us to visit today. Been in townsville all of my 39 years and never visited here before. What a great setup. Heaps of info to read, displays are well done, an abundance of friendly volunteers on hand for any questions. I will be back as my 3 yr old didn’t let me have as in depth a look as i wouldve liked. Well done, i’ll be spreading the word to my locals to support this olace!

Well worth a look

This army museum was much better than I expected. No charge for entry but donations gratefully accepted. Friendly volunteers greet you as you enter. A focus on local militaria opens to a reasonably extensive first and Second World War display galleries. Boer, Korea , Vietnam and modern conflicts covered but not to the same degree. Well worth a visit

A hidden gem. Great museum with all the stories and artifacts of the many conflicts that Australia has been involved in. Plenty of parking and very helpful staff.
