We booked the full day tour from Arequipa, were picked up promptly from our hotel at the arranged time of 3am, and stopped for breakfast en route, arriving at the Cross of the Condor by 10am. We were fortunate to see 7 condors flying within...More
Johselm has been the biggest guide-disappointment of our rich mountain-life (Canyon de Cola itself is 5 star for us, Alex 5 star and Johselm 1 star). After reading all the great feedbacks on Tripadvisor we wanted to go with Johselm for a 2-day tour in...More
I wish I had something positive to say. My husband had open heart surgery July 21 2018. I had messaged Joslym. Im sure I spelled it wrong. I asked for my $100.00 deposit back and I was told no. I was refunded for my entire...More
Away from the mass of tourists in a little group of 3 people, this tour offers a real experience of the canyon and excellent spotting of condors. 12km trekking the first day, for less fit people a bit of a challenge but doable and the reward...More
We booked a 2D/1N Colca Canyon Trek with FindLocalTrips and Peru Andes. They follow a similar itinerary to most tour companies operating the same trek out of Arequipa. You are picked up from your hotel at around 3/3.30am and are driven out to the Colca...More
This has been one of my favourite places in Peru so far! If you are fit and speak some Spanish, you don't need to book yourself on any expensive tour and enjoy the true Colca Canyon trekking. I have started my trip in Arequipa, where...More
One of the big highlights of our trip and up there with Machu Picchu. The weather in Arequipa and Colca was perfect. The landscape in Colca was rugged and magestic. We saw plenty of Condors. We stayed at the Colca lodge, loved the hot springs.
We planned to day-trip in arequipa:

My guide David was excellent, just a great, friendly and knowledgeable local guide that made my time in the Colca Canyon unforgettable. I found his agency close to the Plaza de Armas (2 blocks) and would recommend them for sure. It was rather "diappointing" not...More
My mom and I just got back from an incredible 3 day, 2 night guided trek into the Colca Canyon. We were guided by Johselm Canto who is a local guide who has been trekking in the canyon for over twenty years and knows it...More

I went with an American friend who doesn't speak Spanish and we booked through PeruHop. The actual tour was operated by Colonial Tours. It cost US$ 28.00 plus S/.70 entrance fee for the national park (which you will have to pay no matter if you visit the area on your own or as part of a tour). We had a tour guide who explained everything in English and Spanish. They will take you to restaurants in Chivay for lunch and dinner. Lunch is both times a buffet for S/.30 plus beverages. Dinner is at a restaurant with a show. Personally, I found it pretty horrible and would recommend to skip it which is absolutely no problem. You will also have to decide if you want to do a tour (everything by bus) or do trekking. We chose the first option. Don't forget to buy coca leaves or soroche pills if you don't know how your body reacts as far as the altitude is concerned. However, I'm sure you'll enjoy the trip and seeing the condors fly is an amazing experience.
