There is a small beach here that you can climb down to, though I would say the surf is not safe for surfing due to the narrow mouth of the bay. However from the promontory you can see the waves breaking on the rocks below...More

The amazing cliff formations along the whole stretch of the Great Ocean Road resembles aspects of America's stunning Grand Canyon. Forged by wind and raging waves over millions of years the resultant formations are breathtaking. Loch Are Gorge is one of the most spectacular viewing...More

Just as great as the 12 Apostles a few miles apart. This gorge was a result of extreme erosion. This gorge offers the most incredible experience. While you can see the Apostles from afar, you can actually approach this gorge via shipwreck walk down to the...More

The story of the wreck of The Loch Ard and the two survivors is really good -the scenery and the wave action is well worth seeing. Last time we were here it was an overcast day with strong wind and a wild sea with foam...More

For me this place tops 12 Apostles and all the others. The scenery is amazing, you have history, wild cliffs and ocean waves pounding in, nicely laid out walks, boardwalk and stairs. The environment is pristine and it's great that it has been so well...More

It was a rainy day and it was still magical. Make sure to go to all 3 lookouts and walk down the steps to beach. Beautiful cliffs, beach, grotto and waves. Also, while you are here, check out the Razorback - an additional walkway at...More

This place is just magical. Make sure you go down the stairs into the gorge and take the time to explore. There is the most magnificent little beach and also caves at the back of the gorge. We did the other walks to Razorback and...More

We weren't too sure on what to visit on Great Ocean Road, but this was pretty speccy :) The history of the doomed Loch Ard was interesting and the scenery nothing short of spectacular. Relatively easy access too!

A very beautiful place, a great photo location. We sent a good half a hour taking pictures and just watch the waves.

Yes it is possible, but watch your step as the stairs can get Sandy and slippery. Also do not turn your back on the water as some rogue waves can come up quickly!

I think it would be possible but not easy. As expressed, the views from the top are great. But it is definitely worth it to walk to the bottom as well. You can make that decision when you get to the top view and see how... More
