Lake Wendouree is so picturesque and pretty. Plenty of bird life. Great walking paths and great cafes to break up the 6km walk if you wish.

With a 6k track stretching along the banks, wide enough to accomodate walkers, dogs and cyclists this is a great place for a Summer morning stroll. Several places to eat within easy reach, with a couple overlooking the lake itself.

The heart of Ballarat. Lovely place to walk and relax. Paths are really well maintained, there are plenty of cafes to stop and have a coffee and to top it all off a food market too!

This lake is gorgeous, with swans and ducks, bridges over to little islands to wander around, a cafe, a bike/walking path all around and an amazing maze and castle like playground.

We went for a walk around the lake after dinner at Boatshed restaurant. Lovely! There are canoes you can hire. Wished we’d brought our bikes. There are black swans on the river which our kids enjoyed watching.

Contact Ballarat Tourist Information at the Town Hall (03) 5337 4337 they will be able to answer this and more info about what else you can do whilst you are in Ballarat - I found them very helpful when I was there in May.
