Great and safe ride.
Jun 2021
This is a GREAT track. Simple, Safe with minimum of road crossings. Easy grades. I rode from Austinmer to Stuart Park and back. One bridge at Thirroul is currently under reconstruction, and the bypass is poorly labelled, requiring guess work to find. In spring, watch for magpies at Woonona, but the danger area is well signposted.

Beautiful but not good for an exercise cycle
Oct 2020 • Couples
This is nice if you want a very relaxed cycle or walk. Unfortunately a lot of pedestrians don't have any respect for the fact that it is a shared cycle way . walking and taking up the whole path deliberately not moving to let bikes through even when I rang my bell. I did not do this is an aggressive way and I simply got ignored. Some people also let their kids run all over the track.

A great track

Great place for a walk.
My dad and I have been frequenting the track as of late to take a nice walk by the beach. Its a great track to walk for some exercise with some beautiful views and a few places to stop and eat or get a drink. I enjoy starting from Sandon point and walking through Bulli, that has been my most enjoyable walk so far.

Excellent vista along the entire route

Can be busy but well worth the ride, skate or roller blade along this coastal path with most of the trip with an ocean view, well marked lanes and maintained path

A lovely ride
Mar 2020
A mostly easy ride, with few road crossings, and the highlight being the view! The path can get crowded with other cyclists and lots of walkers, but there is a relaxed feel and that isn't a problem.

The Bike Track - Good Reason to Visit the Wollongong
Feb 2020 • Solo
I've lived in the country, so I can well imagine the 'Gong to Thirroul bike riding track would be a major reason for choosing to holiday here. A well laid out track hugging the coast with fabulous views of the ocean and escarpment. Adequate toilet availability, coffee places, plenty of benches to sit and do nothing (reading, music, chatting?) eateries and only tiny hills. BBQ facilities in several places. Swimming is an option and play areas for the kids. Great was to spend the day.

Bike Track a real Winner
Feb 2020 • Family
If you don’t live near the ocean and want to see kilometres of beautiful beaches without the driving. Get the family on bikes and cruise up the coastal bike path from Wollongong and head north. The escarpment you’re the west is stunning. The light is always changing so sunrise and sunsets can be very special. And when you get hot just pick one of the many ocean pools to swim in. You will love this Mimi adventure just one hour south of Sydney.

Easy, but crowded in spots
Dec 2019 • Couples
From Wollongong (the Novotel hotel) to Thirroul is about 8.5 miles. Very pleasant. Flat. A great way to see the area. There and back has only about 500 feet total elevation rise. Two small cafés along the way (Olive’s, Ruby’s) make for a nice stop for a snack or drink. Just outside of Wollongong there is a nice nature preserve with about a 1.5km gravel path. There are several parks, playgrounds and bathing areas along the way so parts of the path can get congested with kids. This is not a path that lends itself to a fast ride.
