I had no problems buying a timed entry ticket (around $21) from the attraction's website prior to the day of my visit thus ensuring a visit at a time of my choosing. Entry to the house is only with a guided tour which is limited...More

Thanks for the great review. Agree we are a very different attract to Larnach, this is a piece of "domestic" architecture and a family home. The walk is steep but if you can allocate some time and pace yourself you get a great look at...More

This is really a very nice historic home. I was impressed with the City of Dunedin for having the facility open for public enjoyment.

Walked up heart attack hill from cruise ship without a tour booking (didn't know). We entered a cramped tiny reception room, were abrasively in a raised voice told off for not booking and go wander in garden as no tours available for 2 hours. Thanks...More

This stop was part of a tour we were on. It was very interesting, and I'd recommend it. Guides took us through the house and gave us the history.

Beautiful, amazing historic home and so well preserved. The elderly tour guide was very informative and obviously enjoyed his job. Very good value for money and chose this over Larnach Castle re the other reviews I had read before going. Highly recommended.

The Olveston Historic Home is a great place to visit to get a sense of life in the early 1900s. The Theomin family were importers and developed a wonderful collection of art from around the world.
