Toilets, picnic on the grass, less people on a week day. Interesting history, and only going to get better once the museum and gun emplacements have been restored. The whole area is well maintained as there is a resident caretaker living there. 20min steep drive...More

Albeit being one of the shorter hikes, it is one of the Must-Dos if you happen to be in Christchurch. The coastal views were breathtaking!

Easy hike, longer than your short 1-2 hour hikes, but all easy terrain (mind you be careful not to slip when dewy or after rain as it can be muddy in patches) that i clearly marked out - you won't get lost.

Park up walk along the sand next to the sea for miles right around the bay. Loads of birds to watch as well as the odd surfer.

This is stunning spot to get overview of Christchurch city and the Canterbury plains. Also great to roam and go for extended walk.

An epic car trip through untouched beautul landscape guiding you through many stop offs for photo opportunities. Take lots of water and snacks.

I love this place, whether it be for a picnic/bbq or just to sit and admire the view. There is a walkway that takes you past old gun replacements from long ago.

Sorry just seeing your question. Hope I can help. Depends of course on how fast you want. But generally if you give yourself two hours that's a good estimate. I wouldn't recommend a mountain buggy pram. If you have a pack I... More
