We were there in the summer school holidays. Kids just 9 and 14, both really liked the activities but we really felt to get the most out of it (for the price of $17/hr) our well swimming 9 year old was at the youngest level. She did the Blob twice but both times hit the water hard so no good for any younger than that. We also felt it unfair that when they got in at 6 pm, none of the 5 pm swimmers were ordered out so there were about 50 kids on it instead of 30 but when it came to 6.50 pm all people of this session got told to get out (obviously the staff wanted to get home?). Ok for a holiday treat but can have easily just as much fun at the wharf next door or at Waimarino (15 min drive from there) where you pay for a whole day of lots of activities...

This water-borne play activity site alongside the Strand, and seemed to mirror a similar facility called Waimarino, on the river at Waipuna, off SH2 on the other side of Tauranga. It seems utterly superfluous in its context, as it sits adjacent to a jetty from which every Taurangan resident, from eight to eighty, throws themselves off into the tidal waters of the harbour. Waterworld gets its custom from those, mainly adults prepared to pay for their children to do virtually the same. There are one of two bouncy bits, but hey! why pay?

Sat on a seat and just admired the inflatables set up. The kids had a great time as some of the areas were quite challenging - the most popular being the one where you jump on an inflatable that sends your friend up in the air and into the water. Attentive lifeguards and the wearing of a jacket makes it a safe activity. The only negative that I heard is to be very careful when there is a strong current.

Visited today with my boys aged 12 and 9. I neglected to read the info properly - that 9 year olds need a parent with them and I didn’t have my swimwear with me. The owner was very obliging, and offered me a wetsuit so I could accompany him, which I did. He also didn’t charge me extra, which I thought was very generous. My boys both really loved the experience, though the current was strong. Safety was always the excellent staff’s top priority, and they were all very friendly and helpful. Top marks!

Right on the bay at Tauranga, the waterpark was well organised and safe. Can buy single or double entry. Well suited for the younger age kids around 5-9 ($13), but they must be able to swim. 10+ age group cost $16. Both prices are for single entry into the park for 50 minutes.

A group of 11 of us visited Waterworld and had the most fantastic day! The weather wasn’t it’s best but we were able to hire wetsuits from the company. I would highly recommend this to anyone regardless of age, it was one of the funniest hours of an activity I have ever taken part in! Thank you for a wonderful day and an experience to remember

Been there twice and the kids loved it, I was comfortable enough to head off and grab a beer while they were occupied.
Kids review was that it was ‘excellent’ but they are ‘blob experts’ and Waterworld’s is smaller (than Waimarino’s) but easier to get a turn.
It’s not appropriate for preschoolers and you must be able to swim. 🙄

The current was really strong while my family were on waterworld, we had a couple of strong swimmers in our crew (ex competitive swimmers) and they struggled with the current!

My family have also come away with abrasions that are not not healing, has this happened to anyone else?

I’d only book on the day if no current and a lovely day as my crew got very cold and couldn’t last an hour.

My kids had such a great time, the staff were helpful even with the huge numbers of people they still managed to have smiles and deal with everything calmly.

You need to book online as they had full sessions every hour when we went so make sure you are prepared to wait if you haven't booked, but the booking process online beforehand was really easy.

The lifeguards made me feel at ease having my daughter out on the water while I watched from the shore as they were constantly observing and helping the kids where needed.

Great atmosphere with music and beanbags to relax on. Will def be back!
