The dam opening was not quite as spectacular as the YouTube video but novel nonetheless. The recommended lookouts are easy to walk to and give grandstand views.

Amazing beautiful, what more can I say! I've been to taupo a number of times but never knew about this, it's so worth visiting!! Make sure you get there when they let the water out!

Incredibly powerful and exceptionally easy to get to and to enjoy. You are unlikely to get a quiet moment but you will be wowed by the sheer force of nature.

If you are in Taupo you must add the Huka Falls to your plans. I took my son for his first visit and he was blown away by the power and volume of water that is channeled through this natural marvel.
