“What a waste of effort.”
The area that now makes up Victoria Park Village was once the local rubbish collection area. The horses would lead the carts around the old City Centre collecting the rubbish - the rubbish was then delivered to Victoria Park Village, burnt in the old...more

Victoria Park Market 210 - 218 Victoria Street West, Auckland Central, Auckland 1010, New Zealand
We got there just before 2pm on Sunday, 18 March 2018 and it was like a ghost town. Of the many shop units there most were either closed permanently or just not open on a Sunday. Only 2 units were serving food despite others having...More
We read the reviews, then the responses which indicated food trucks on site during a summer weekend day. Rubbish - didn't see one. There are a couple of wee touristy shops, the Platinum sports promise was boarded up. We were starving and pretty annoyed about...More
I feel really sorry for the retailers who moved into this 'village'; the property developer really sold them a pup. It's awful. Walking through at 11.00am on a Saturday (where was the pop up market?) there was no one there and a large number of...More

Thank you for visiting Victoria Park Village on the weekend and braving the weather.
I am sorry you missed the sign that said because of the heavy rain and wind that the outdoor market was cancelled on Saturday and as it happened on...More
All shops are modern and stylish but there are few people. No liveliness there in the daytime. Night visiting may be funnier. Wifi access is awfully bad. Very very inconvenient.More

Hi Shin F

Victoria Market's website describes a vibrant set of shops and restaurants with a "pop up market". Very disappointed when all I found were a few shops and restaurants, very few people and a bunch of closed businesses and empty storefronts. It sounds like it might...More

Thanks for making the time to visit Victoria Park Village although it doesn't sound as though you found us at our best - and I am sorry about that.
It sounds as though you missed the covers band in the courtyard that day...More
Very quiet today - empty shopfronts and the few open offering "clearance " prices - suggesting that they won't be open for long.
I don't know what the developers have done wrong, however this space is sad. I walked from the ferry terminal, which was...More

Thank you for coming to visit us and I am sorry you visited us in a slow patch.
We are almost at the end of an extensive refurbishment that has earthquake proofed the Village and will enable more stores and eateries to open...More
Very disappointing that this seems to have changed into a corporate office precinct.
This used to be such a great part of Auckland for locals and tourists, however it was dead the day we were there and the few shops that were there was closed....More

Yes with the changes in the area the whole precinct has changed from the bohemian feel of the 80's and 90's to a central city urban village complete with offices, eateries, bars, gym, pilates studio, galleries, workshops and retail stores. The precinct has been undergoing...More
I had expected more and found just a few stores open, many without staff manning them....prices were high. There were some options to eat and drink.....but not worth the walkMore
