Amazing experience & even more amazing guide, Bazza. Far beyond my expectations. Accommodation & food was excellent although varied. Glamping is for me. Appreciated the home comforts in the Kimberley.

We have travelled the world and this is a VERY SPECIAL PLACE to travel to. Outback Spirit tours were great and with only 19 people on board it made travel even easier. The truck was very comfortable, considering some of the very bumpy roads that we travelled, but we had a good driver (thanks BAZZA) who drove us fearlessly and showed us the ropes. We knew nothing about the Kimberley before we set off, so it was like opening Christmas presents, at every stop. Each walk was different, some quite difficult, some quite easy and 3 walks were too difficult for our ankles and knees. However, we did not feel that we missed out on anything as there was alternative shorter walks at Echidna Chasm to a look out. A couple of days we stayed in camp and chilled out by the pool to revive our limbs (and catch up on washing) and instead of the walk to Mitchell Falls, we took a fab helicopter flight to the top, swam a bit, and took a helicopter flight back - great day! Some of the walks have a lot of rocks to negotiate, but with a relatively good fitness this is not impossible and you have a WONDERFUL billabong to swim in at the end of it. The camps (some belonging solely to Outback Spirit) were all top class (in my humble opinion) and it is amazing how they manage to have such good food, bar, swimming pools and accommodation in the middle of the bush! We travelled 5600 km on the 2 weeks in The Kimberley and it was worth every kilometre. OUTBACK SPIRIT is a FABULOUS company to travel with. They are organised and you can leave the full 2 weeks totally in their hands and just sit back and enjoy the trip of a lifetime. We loooooved it so much, we have now booked Arnhem Land with this company for 2024. If you are considering whether to do this tour or not, I would like to say that my husband is 87 years old with arthritis in his ankle and I have bad knees and we made it. The gorges are definitely worth seeing, even in the heat, especially Cathedral Gorge. I would recommend rubber water shoes for getting in and out of ALL the billabongs and water areas as they can be a bit sharp and slippy - but if we could do it, then so could you. You need a fair level of fitness, but you can take your time and enjoy the walk - there is always a cold beer waiting for you at the end of the day. Thank you so much to Outback Spirit for a wonderful tour and we look forward to seeing you in Arnhem Land this year.

Thank you for your lovely 5 star review. You have truly captured what it is Outback Spirit strives to achieve, creating lasting memories of a uniquely special place in Australia. There are challenging parts of the tour but also rewards and the sense of achievement that comes with doing things you didn't think were possible. Enabling people to see remote parts of Australia is what we are passionate about and our guides are there to help every step of the way. We are so pleased you've been able to tick The Kimberley off your bucket list and we look forward to welcoming you to Arnhem Land in 2024. Thank you for taking the time to inspire others to achieve their travel dreams.

Have recently done the Exquisite Kimberley tour. Had a brilliant adventure in hard times after Covid causing havoc and then Cyclone Ellie. Regardless of many attraction closures, Outback Spirit were fantastic with their itinerary changes. Amazing tour, wonderful staff, incredible scenery, gourmet food and great company. Could not fault Outback Spirit and our wonderful driver/tour guide Drew. Congratulations to Outback Spirit.

We've just finished our Darwin to Broome adventure with Outback Spirit and have to say, if you want to see the spectacular top end of this great country of ours, then this is the trip for you.

A great itinerary, the best tour guides in the country in Magdita and Colman, wonderful fellow travellers, and that scenery - what more could anyone wish for.

Magdita and Colman were so professional and attentive to all of us, and shared so many insights with us gained through talks with local elders. They made the trip interesting, fun and educational at the same time. They are a great team!

They kept our comfy coach (oops - truck) 'Girty' clean and stocked with all of the little extras and Magdita was great at letting us all know details of what to expect next day, even down to whether there would be change rooms to put swimmers on etc.

The accommodation ranged from tents (with Queen Size bed and ensuite) through to motel style rooms, cabins on outback stations, 'glamping’ at Outback Spirit's luxury Ngauwudu Safari Camp, and of course the Cable Beach Resort at the end. Glamping on the creek at Ngauwudu is a must do!

You are in the top end so of course there are long distances to be travelled some days, bumpy roads, and occasionally only lava-‘trees’, but it's an adventure!

A big thank you to Magdita and Colman, and to Outback Spirit. We hope to be 'On the road again' with you some day.

Thank you John & Robyn for your 5 star review of your Outback Spirit Kimberley and Top End tour. It sounds like you had the most marvellous adventure, and created some lifetime memories, from riding on the reliable truck 'Girty', to learning from our amazing team of Colman & Magdita, we are so pleased you found this tour exceeded your expectations. Touring in the Kimberley requires you to 'bring your outback spirit', which you certainly did, enhancing your enjoyment of the whole experience. We are truly appreciative of the time taken to post this review and we look forward to seeing you 'back on the road again' with us, in another special part of Australia.

Saw some spectacular sights from ground level and from above on the Exquisite tour through the Kimberely region. I have never been to this part of Australia before so it was thrilling experience. The gorges, rivers, rock faces, cute wallabies and dips/swims in out of the way places and the vegetation in some of the places were awesome. The helicopter flights and seaplane adventure were exciting providing views of the land and sea. Our driver was a very competent driver who ensured we were well taken care of. Food for a vegetarian was limited in some of the places except for breakfast. Most of the accommodation was adequate to good but a couple of places could have been better. Cable beach is not to be missed either.

Thank you ruthadelaide2016 for your 4 star review of your Outback Spirit tour to the Kimberley. You've really summed up perfectly just why people are so drawn to this area. The Kimberley truly is one of the last frontiers of Australia and due to the remoteness, there are some logistical challenges that come with this. Outback Spirit is working closely with all third party providers in the Kimberley to meet guest expectation. We were pleased to see the return of backpackers to WA in 2023 and as more return in 2024, service levels in accommodation and F&B will continue to improve. Thank you again for taking the time to post your review and we hope to see you onboard a future Outback Spirit tour.

First, let me say that for me this was an expedition, not a holiday as such, because there were early mornings, long days driving over bumpy roads and uneven accommodation quality. But it was the outback after all.
Having said that, my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and that was largely due to our brilliant guide Magdita and expert driver, Colman who worked so hard to make everything go smoothly.
The Mercedes 4WD bus (which Colman called a truck) was always clean and comfortable with snacks and fresh fruit on hand. I'm gluten-free and there was a special box of snacks just for me.
When the Gibb River road was closed, they even arranged flights so we wouldn't be delayed.
The end of the road in Broome saw us relaxing at the Cable Beach Club, a beautiful venue on a spectacular piece of coastline.
I didn't do all the walks as I don't cope well with walking in hot weather, but the younger folk did fine.If you want to see the top end and understand more about our first nations peoples, this is the way to go.

Thank you Sabina H for your 5 star review of your Kimberley tour with Colman and Magdita. Outback Spirit is truly blessed to have such wonderful professional guides. This tour of the Kimberley is, as you say, an expedition. The Kimberley is still a remote region with long distances and limited facilities. Both touring operators and accommodation providers strive to ensure quality standards are maintained, despite frequent natural disasters impacting some areas. In 2023 there were two major flooding events that closed some locations, however it is a testament to all those who work in the Kimberley tourism industry that we were able to make alternative arrangements and continue on. Thanks again for your wonderful review and we hope to see you back onboard one of our Outback Spirit tours again in the future.

First time doing an Outback Spirit Tour. Travelled from Darwin to Broome, with all the key highlights along the way. Flooding meant the Gibb River Road was closed for over a week, but Outback Spirit organised flights to our next destination to ensure we didn’t miss anything on our trip. Our driver and bus arrived the next day once the road was open again. Very slick and professional operation. I have to say though, that we had the very best guides that made this trip very, very memorable. Magdita and Colman were outstanding. Their experience and knowledge was exceptional, but also their genuine warmth, care and compassion for everyone in the group made all the difference. Thank you so much ‘M’ and Col.

Thank you Wander584228 for your 5 star review. We are so pleased to read that our team, Colman & Magdita exceeded your expectations and you thoroughly enjoyed your very first Outback Spirit tour. Due to the significant unseasonal rainfall that occurred just before your tour departed, many areas were impacted and our operational team worked around the clock diverting tours where necessary, using light aircraft to fly around the affected areas. I'm sure the view from the air was amazing! We look forward to welcoming you back on another Outback Spirit tour in the future.

We went on an 18 day Kimberley bus trip and while the scenery was excellent (sells itself) and the tour guide excellent, it is not as glamorous as made out. Accommodation included country club, hotel, resort & cattle station places. Not glamorous at all (website said exceptional); there were some good places for sure including their Ngauwudu Safari Camp, but this was the only exceptional one. In most cases you are being shadowed by an equivalent APT tour. Food overall was leftover from the 1980’s. Bain-marie food was maybe at a quarter of the places, and just average pub food at half of the places. The other 1/4 was very good (Ngauwudu Safari Camp was brilliant). Now a lot of this is out of outback spirits control, because everyone got the same food and accommodation at most places and nothing else on offer, but it’s absolutely wrong to imply it’s anything more than what’s available to anyone. The price they sell for is not worth the cost. There’s not enough uniqueness it what they offer. Don’t be fooled.

The photos I’ve included is some of the accommodation we stayed at. Nothing bad, just what you’d expect and not exceptional.

We are sorry to hear DaveNowra that you did not find your Kimberley tour what you expected it to be. Touring in the Kimberley is unlike touring in other areas of Australia. Distances are vast and facilities few and far between. Outback Spirit owns just one lodge in the Kimberley and so works closely with other third party accommodation (and F&B) providers to ensure standards are maintained. We use the term exceptional (the true meaning of which is unusual or not typical), to indicate the wide variety of accommodation styles, which range from our 5 star lodge at Ngauwudu to motel style rooms, safari tents and station lodge rooms, all of which are clean and comfortable. The reason you would have seen APT coaches at the same locations is that more often than not, there is only one accommodation place suitable for touring groups. Value for money is not just the things you can see. The cost of a Kimberley tour takes into account the amount of mileage, the high cost of trucking in provisions and maintaining lodgings in a remote location. Another factor is our 24 hour operational support team and mechanical bases we operate in Broome and Darwin that can respond quickly to tour interruptions if the need arises. Your observation that the food was leftover from the 1980s is somewhat harsh. Our F&B providers strive to supply meals that are nutritious and varied, however the logistics of shipping huge quantities of food into a remote area must be taken into account and food wastage minimised. There will always be more limitations with meals in a remote region like the Kimberley than in city areas. We encourage all those considering a Kimberley tour to ask questions of our reservations team if unsure about anything. This will ensure expectation levels are on par with the reality of touring in a remote region of Australia.

Our first stage, 5 days with Outback from Alice Sprigs to Uluru and Kings Canyon etc
was excellent 10/10. Great guide Andy and driver Nobby, great commentary informative, humorous with excellent communication with passengers. Nothing was too much trouble to Andy. All accomodation and food very good except for Hilton Alice Springs where we had stained sheets and no hot water, unbelievable !!.
Our 2nd stage with Outback, Darwin to Kakadu and Litchfield was the complete opposite, not very helpful guide, some of our 1st stage group put on another Outback bus when asked if we could stay together on same bus given a blunt NO , commentary
bland. Hot water dispenser for tea / coffee not working and the air conditioning on half the bus not working with 33 deg heat. For what we paid we would have thought Outback would have sent a replacement bus or sent a mechanic out to fix problems 24 passengers in a hot bus for a few days obviously did not seem to mater, very disappointing

Thank you chrismK533LP for your review. Whilst your first Red Centre tour with Outback Spirit seemed to run without a hitch, we are sorry to hear your second Kakadu tour did not. In relation to the mechanical issues, we do our best to resolve these issues without the need to cancel the tour altogether. However it is not always possible to obtain a replacement coach at short notice. As this tour is just two and a half days long, by the time a mechanic can be arranged, the coach could be on the way back to Darwin. Outback Spirit tours in some of the most remote places in Australia and whilst our operational team is always on hand should interruptions occur, there are times when it is not possible to solve issues with the same efficiency and timeframes you might expect in city areas. To address your concern over travelling with new-found friends, although we often run two coaches on the same departure date for this tour, they are separate tours with their own tour driver/guide. Manifests and accommodation lists are secured 30 days prior to the tour departure date. If a group is travelling together we will put them on the same tour coach at the time of booking, however for guests meeting each other on another tour prior to their Kakadu tour, as it is within the 30 day cut off, we cannot swap guests over to the other coach. I'm sorry this was not explained clearly to you at the time of your tour departure to Kakadu. We do appreciate you taking the time to outline your concerns and your feedback has been forwarded to our operations team for review.

OUTBACK SPIRIT (Broome) - All You Need to Know BEFORE You Go
