We went in expecting “Little Italy” to at least be a quaint, nice little street decorated with Cafés and Italian Restaurants that were all clean and well-off (based on advice from a local). The reality was a street with some Italian restaurants, closed-up cafés, bars,...More

No city in Australian beats Melbourne for food and shopping and Lygon Street is no exception. I had the yummies breakfast there. Don't know how on earth they got bacon to taste so good!

Lygon street is the "Little Italy" of Melborune, or i should say it use to be. It's full of restaurant and cafes but watch out, most of them are not that good !

It is good to still find an ethnic street like Lygon Street. While the badgetring by staff of some restaurants was a bit of a nuisance, there was plenty of choice, and, when we stopped to eat, the meal was very good.

I waited 60 years to visit this legendary place and so my expectations were very high. I wasnt disappointed. During a week long visit to Melbourne, I found an excuse to return here 4 times.

Not much variety. Mainly a few pasta and pizza restaurants. Everything closes very early here. Noticed quite a few empty shops trying to get leased.

So many restaurants. So much to choose from. Will continue to check it out on each visit to Melbourne. Always worth a visit.

touted as the street for Italian eats, Laigon st has a lot of average eateries crnaking out the same average to awful Italian faire. Moving further out to where Laigon St becomes more suburban than touristy can reveal a few gems though

Lygon Street is a sight to see on a Saturday night if you are looking for a rememberable dining experience. The street has many cultures up for grabs from Italian, Indian to Turkish and Greek cuisine at their top flights. Highly recommend Mercadano for Italian...More

If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated
over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the
place. Until recently, this neighbourhood was home to
the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who
started their day with a local espresso. They are
gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this
Little Italy which has something for everyone.
