Named after Melbourne's co-founder, John Pascoe Fawkner, with 100 acres first reserved in 1862, Fawkner Park remains largely unchanged from its original design. The spacious park features two art-deco brick pavilions and several walking paths that meander through the sweeping fields. They are lined with...More

If you are looking for a large park in Melbourne with native flora, do not come here. It is very much a large, inner suburban English-style park, with cricket ovals or grounds and straight paths sheltered by exotic (European) trees. There is little or nothing...More

I work in the area and come here solo but would recommend for families and couples as there is plenty of space. Some good playgrounds plus large fields and leafy trees. Good paths with an approx 4km round trip if you are looking for a...More

I walk through the Fawkner park everyday as it's a shortcut to my workplace in St. Kilda Rd. It's huge and very well maintained. A lot of people come to this park to walk their dogs, jog or just get some exercise.

Fawkner Park hides its charms a little further south of the Botanic Gardens, bounded by Toorak, St Kilda and Commercial Roads. Lovely to live next to, a surprise to stumble across and fun for everyone (and their dogs!)

When in Melbourne in the spring (or any other time really) it is a perfect green wedge in inner Melbourne. Beautifully maintained grass and trees, walking paths and sporting fields abound with the occasional bbq . There are little treasures for the young und like...More

Fawkner Park has wide open spaces, with much lawn, many trees, cycle / foot paths, children's playgrounds, playing fields for various team sports, but few toilets. I have been here for Summertime picnics lunching in the shade of the huge old trees. There are quite...More

This park is a handy calming shortcut to St Kilda Rd business precinct due to the relative proximity to Sth Yarra train station - about a 20 to 30 mins brisk walk with stops at traffic lights. Not quiet with 3 major roads as boundary...More

Agree with Victorianlad below, it could be even better with native trees - it is a large park with lots of space, good for locals but close to the city and good for relaxing, walking, picnics and walking the family pet.
