About
Step inside Australia's oldest operating brewery, nestled at the foot of the majestic Mount Wellington, to learn how Cascade has been crafting beer since 1832. Our guides will share Cascade's fabled recipe; a dash of history, a healthy dose of Tasmania's finest ingredients and a generous serve of brewing craft. You can take a tour or just relax and enjoy Cascade beers and Mercury ciders, savour a delicious lunch and wander our three acres of heritage gardens.

Taste of the Great Southern Land
Aug 2021
Touring the Cascade Brewery is the perfect place to get a taste of the Great Southern Land. Cascade Brewery dates from 1824, making it the oldest continuously operating brewery in Australia. Cascade makes a variety of beer styles, including its famous stout and Cascade Premium Light, one of Australia's favourite light beers. This is a marvellous stop-over if you are in Hobart.

A great place full of history
Sep 2021 • Couples
We booked a pre lunch tour which was run by Bel. As it was Sunday it wasn't operating but that was fine as it was quieter and we weren't dodging forklifts etc. Bel was so lovely and gave us great insight into the past and present operations of the brewery. The building is just a majestic landmark and the grounds and brewery bar/restaurant equally as impressive. After our tasting we stayed on and enjoyed a lovely lunch.

Closed when we visited
Jul 2021
The Brewery was closed when we visited and we couldn't of got in as it was booked out solid due to the limited tours they were running. The tours were on days when we needed to leave any way.
The brewery dominates the road when you come around the corner of the road.
It would of been good to do a tour but its still worth a look at and a photo opportunity.

A convivial Friday lunch.

This is a lovely venue with an upmarket feel, although the floor is black concrete and the ceiling is dark green, giving a sombre feel. The outlook to the garden is superb, and the big wood heater was pumping out the heat when we were there. Apart from a mixup with our order, we had a lovely lunch. We both ordered salmon, and it was faultless. The prices are very reasonable too. I intend to go back as soon as possible.

History (and beer)
Jun 2021 • Couples
The barley store was deserted, the grain mill was silent and the packing line was still. Despite the lack of brewery action, this was a great tour - in no small part to our personable guide David. Fabulous old building, lots of history; enough good stuff going on to forgive a pretty average beer. We had a small group of five in our tour, which ran exactly to scheduled time. Tour length an hour, ending up at the bar with a tasting paddle of four beers (or ciders, if you prefer).

We walked up to the brewery from the CBD. It’s an easy, albeit gently uphill, hour-long walk. A good option if you’re going to be drinking a few beers.

Great service and great food. Great cider and fabulous mulled cider. Beautiful view. We walked back to the city along the Hobart Rivulet path - easy and beautiful walk. Makes Cascade brewery very convenient too !!

Cascade Brewery worth a visit
Jun 2021 • Friends
A trip to Hobart must include a Cascade Brewery Tour. The location, history and the inner workings of their creations (that includes cider), plus a walk around the cool climate garden, is worth the effort.

Did the tour which was excellent - very knowledgeable guide took us all over the place. Recommended for all with an interest in beer.

Gave me a taste of beers that we won't get anytime soon over on the mainland, though...
