Beautiful little church on the main street. Loved how it was laid out as the cross. Haven't been in a catholic church for a very long time due to personal reasons and I am glad I walked in there though.

Just like a Catholic Church but underground. Very well done and well worth a visit. The map was a bit confusing but it is in the Main Street.

This interesting little church has the icons and artefacts you would expect to find in a Catholic place of worship, including the stations of the Cross.

This was hard to find, but we preserved. It is right next to the service station as you enter the main street. Not well signed. However, when we did find it, what a little treasure. This is the first underground church in Coober Pedy. Make sure you visit.

The church was easy to find on the main road in town. We gave a gold coin donation. The woman doing the flowers told us this little church was hand carved and the beautiful stained glass window near the front door was installed about 50 years ago. There were lots of small, carved wall nooks holding statues, candles and flowers. It was a very peaceful and pretty church.

This was a must even if you're not religious. My kids lit candles & donated a few bucks for their grandparents who are Catholic & would have appreciated it but it was even just great to see. A unique church, beautifully arranged, so tranquil, peaceful & tasteful.

You must visit this church in town even if you are not religious. It is just an amazing place built into the side of the cliff by Coober Pedy miner from years ago.
No problem with parking right out front.
The front was being sweep while we were there and the church is still in operation.

I love this little church which was carved out of the earth by the opal miners of Coober Pedy in the 1960s. It is still a simple church, the simplicity is striking and meaningful as the church is made by the people for the people. You don’t need to have much time to visit this church as it is only little and easily found on the main road of Coober Pedy,

The underground churches are a lovely way to get out of the heat for a while. The altar, lighing and carvings make for a reflective mood.

We loved our visit here, seeing this dear little church and lighting a candle. Still operational, it’s fascinating being underground
