The first hospital in Alice Springs, built in 1926, now a museum housing memorabilia of Rev. John Flynn, unfortunately closed when I was in town. Looks in need of a make-over considering its importance to the town.

I'd never heard of Rev. John Flynn before visiting Alice Springs. This early 20th century pioneer was responsible for creating the Flying Doctors Service and the School of the Air, essential programs for the people who live in the isolated outback. In 1912 he designed...More
