Government house was open on Australia day and is well worth the visit as it is so historical and rarely open. It is in beautiful condition and is a look into the past how the establishment lived.

We asked a gardener but apparently it wasn't open. The gardens are spectacular and the manicured lawns are like bowling greens but the building shows the early style oif grand sandstone architecture.

A wonderful tour of this magnificent building in a superb location overlooking the Derwent River. They offer tours but you need to book online you can’t just turn up on the day. Fantastic value and a rare opportunity to see inside this historic building. They...More

I intended to visit here on my visit last year but didn't realise you need to show ID so don't make the same mistake! You have to take the free guided tour. You can't walk around on your own. You get tickets from the office....More

The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with

shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners
frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a
dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit
the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle,
reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens

There is no self guided tour, you have to go on the organised tour which from memory takes about an hour or two.
