I did the 1 hour guided tour. For someone like me who didn't research much on sydney opera house, it was an informative session. You'll also get to enter some of the halls. I felt that it was a good experience.

The display is on the eastern side of the Bennelong sail at sunset and at 7pm, so simply walk to the top of the big steps outside at the front.
