When I planned this trip to Canberra I didn't know about Sidney Nolan's 'Riverbend' work. I am just so glad that I stumbled across it. It's so glorious that I would go back to Canberra especially to see it again. Unfortunately I can only offer...More

Not far out of the way and definitely worth making the effort to visit. Lovely building on the Edgar of ANU and the City Centre, consistently good exhibitions, sometimes featuring Australia's most accomplished contemporary artists.

Hidden at the back of the ANU is the Old Drill Hall Gallery. Not an easy place to find a park but worth the effort. Pride of place is Nolan's magnificent River Bend series. It's now in a purpose built gallery space. The exhibitions are...More

Superb gallery currently showing the works collected over the last 10 years by the ANU and it's free. Worth the visit alone just to see Sidney Nolan's Riverbend. The gallery specifically built a new exhibition space to showcase Riverbend and they have done a fine...More

We've been here many times, and found the place OK. However, it now has a modern look, having been refurbished (including the toilets). It now has an attractive look and feel about it when you get inside. We went to a musical concert there, and...More

An old Canberra building that's a part of the ANU. Easily accessible on foot being close to the city. Not sure how often the exhibits change, but is currently an Aboriginal art display on show. Entry is free.

Curators here are friendly and being such a small space makes things a bit more intimate. The hall itself could be heritage listed and is a nice place to drop in to every now and then.

I really like this small gallery. Load of enthusiasm from the people there, good installations, nice space. Attended a performance there recently - great space. Recommend checking it out.

Well just out of the heart but generally very good exhibitions with hardly anyone there except at openings (when the cheese is strictly and miserly rationed) some top names and excellent works, worth looking for on the edge of the University and only 5-10 mins...More
