This must be one of the most beautiful town churches in the country, and yet strangely under promoted (appreciated?) by the town (hardly a mention in any of the five town-trail leaflets). It illustrates that Newark was once a wealthy and important town. A huge...More

For the size of Newark, St Mary Magdalene is an impressively large medieval church. At 236 feet, the tower is the highest in Nottinghamshire and the interior merits a visit to discover the stained glass, the 14th century nave and the 15th century chancel. The...More

This stunning church dominates the town square with its massive spire. The stained glass windows are beautiful and the interior of the church is very well kept. Make sure you walk all around the outside to see its amazing size and perspective.

Really outstanding church right in the middle of historic Newark town centre. History galore and several concerts held here throughout the year.

The biggest parish church in England (or one of the biggest). Built in XII century, it is still magnificent and remains one of the most important landmarks in Newark. Located next to the market. Highly recommended.
